They ran in.

The unthinkable happened.
It could not be true.
The morning got worse.
A horrific chain of events.

They ran in.

No thought of personal safety.
Save and help.
Serve and protect.
Find and rescue.

They ran in.

Doing everything they could.
Helping all.
Turning no one away.
Training and experience taking over.

They ran in.

We all watched.
Crying as they fell.
Fellow brothers and sisters.
Our hearts broken.

They ran in.

Dedicated to all those public safety professionals that lost their lives helping others.

A beautiful Tribute

A most excellent poem and memorial adaptation. This should be carved into a stone memorial and placed near the other memorials at Ground Zero.
Police Officers run to the sound of the gun; Fire personnel run to the scene of the disaster or explosions; and Medical personnel support them both, on scene and in the midst of it all. Not one considers his or her life at these times; it is strictly their duty to help whom they can and how they can.
This is what we all saw happening during the Twin Towers and still see happening across the US on nearly a daily basis.
Thank you for this wonderful tribute.
