Lewis Hamilton wins the Brit Grand Prix for the third year in a row. There's a Brit in the finals at Wimbledon and a Brit in the lead at The Tour De France. Well done and congratulations from the Colonies.

Murray Wins Wimbledon In Straight Sets
As I clicked on this post Andy Murray was sewing up the Men's Singles title. Well done to the lad from Dunblane.
And there were excellent performances from Wales and Northern Ireland in Euro 2016.
Considering how many different sports we compete in - as opposed to just making up the numbers - we don't do too badly.
What a lot of people may not realise is that the concept of organised team sport, which originated in various English public schools during the first half of the 19th century, wasn't developed with winning in mind. You played to win, but the real benefits came when you lost. Failure was character building, because it made you try that much harder next time. This ethos has never quite disappeared from the higher echelons of English sporting institutions.
Let's face it
we may like to win but we do glorious failure better than anyone.
Angharad
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
This appears to be a quite typical headline of Brit sports news :)
Seems to Me
I heard something about the Battle of Waterloo being won on the playing fields of Eton.
And . . . Angharad, obviously you've never considered the Washington Generals, their "glorious failure" has delighted Globetrotter fans for years.
