In an impromptu interview, John Cena, a well known WWE Superstar and movie and TV star said, when asked if the WWE could ever have a Transgender wrestling star:
"I’m a storyteller, my friend, and that’s what we do in WWE. It’s not segregated to sex, race, creed, religion, any of that. As long as the story is good, it belongs in WWE."
You don't have to be a wrestling fan to know who John Cena is. He's been in many movies as an action star and has appeared and hosted many TV awards shows including The Kids Awards Show.
For me, if the WWE were to introduce a Transgender, it would have to be done in good taste and seriously. (yeah, yeah I know. The WWE doing anything serious is a stretch)
If they played it any other way it would be cartoonish or a slur on the TG community. After all, they HAVE had many "skits" in which a wrestler dressed up in drag and got lots of laughs.
Please don't message or comment about Pro Wrestling being fake or pre planned. We all know that. It's still fun to watch though. Come on! All those hunky dudes wearing skimpy outfits and showing lots of male skin! Not a turn on for me, but I'll bet it is for a lot of others.
Yes, I am a fan of the shows though. Go ahead... flame me for that. ROFL!

I'm a fan as well but with Vince in charge a TG wrestler is not in the books, but as Shane's eldest is next possible CEO after Vince, Steph, Shane & Triple H all retire
I won't say I was a fan...
But many of my relatives were when I was a kid in the 60's and 70's.
I did get the chance to meet and get to know several of the wrestlers of that era, as one of my dad's friends (who taught me boxing) joined them after he left the Navy.
Back in that age, the matches were choreographed to appear much more realistic than they are today and many argued that it was real. Even though I knew from talking to the wrestlers that it was indeed "fake" heaven forbid I try to tell my grandmother!!!
We the willing, led by the unsure. Have been doing so much with so little for so long,
We are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
They'd have to do it right
It could be done.
But they'd have to treat the TG part seriously, and if a heel, make it clear that being TG had nothing to do with deciding to travel down that road.
It's been a good 8+ years since I watched any WWE matches, but there was a period where I was a regular watcher. I appreciate good theater, and the WWE, when on top of it's game, is very good theater.
My understanding is that even the ones who play utter assholes, are actually pretty nice people off screen; it's a job, they don't take it personally, they know better than to let personalities get involved for real in a situation where they really could put a world of hurt on someone if they decided to.
I'm sure that some of the ego you see has basis in reality, but they hype it up a lot for the audience; what they are doing isn't safe, by a long shot, but I'm certain that if someone gets involved who isn't doing their utmost to keep their "opponents" from actual injury, it gets detected and dealt with fast.

I won't flame you but..
I think the men are the only ones who look good generally with WWE and get a better presentation. As it stands I think the golden age for them was with Hulk Hogan, Jack the Snake and others. I didn't go out of my way to look for wrestling content and still managed to see it left to right in video games, the arcade and at home.
For the women, the WWE should take a hint from the "Rumble Roses" series of video games as their current presentation can't match it. Better yet, HIRE the programmers on those games to set up the choreography for the intro and effects. This includes helping design the outfits. Yes I know some are R-rated but others are fine and still fantastic. When I look at some of the WWE women's outfits I just cringe.
Also, I think the audience for wrestling is surprising. I knew a woman who LOVED wrestling and I never expected and would NOT call her a diehard conservative.
Not a Topic for WWE's core fan base.
I recall back in 2000, WWE was working on an angle to have a Muslim American character with the intent of providing a platform to get the real life challenges faced by these people out in a positive light. The athlete they groomed was slated to be a 'good guy', sort of withdrawn, but ultimately intended to be someone folks could empathize with and make a positive impact.
Then 911 and that went away. Largely because the 15-30 year old male demographic was all too ready to just jeer the 'Muslim" and forget the "American". Even cheered USA for the guy's opponents (some of whom weren't even playing American characters).
I am not confident of the average WWE wrestling fan being able to deal with what is a sadly polarizing issue in any other way than the way they reacted to the Muslim American issue.
