Blog About:

I just counted the books that I have published under the TANYA ALLAN banner. I have now fifty books to my name. I am gob-smacked, as I only started publishing in April 2011 after some kind people on this site and on Sapphire's Place encouraged me to do so. I have been writing for a lot longer, but most of those 50 books have been written over the last five years. In the first 12 months (2011-2012) I sold just under 5,000 books. Last year (2014-15) I sold a little over 11,000.

I have no idea what an average production is supposed to be for an author, but I have produced 50 books over a 58 month period. That is not a bad record - roughly 10 books a year. Plus other books under another name and several short stories here and there. I'd love to report I had a best seller in there, but I've only sold around 41,000 books in total. Oh, if it could be 400,000! I'd donate enough to this site so Erin's money problems would be a thing of the past.

I'd like to thank you - THE WONDERFUL READERS - for the encouragement and support that you have given to me. I would never have gone and done it if that support had not been there, and most of it came from this site, Sapphire's Place, Maddy Bell and Bev's Balcony to name but a few.

If I can encourage all of you who want to write - if I can do it, so can you!

There are so many excellent writers here. I don't get round to reading nearly as much as I want to, as I am now caught in the trap of needing to write as it is my major income producer. I gave up running my own business because the books were doing about the same for less hassle. I won't say less work, because I spend a lot of the time writing and researching. I'm not complaining, because I LOVE IT!

Having an understanding life-partner makes all the difference - so a big thanks to her!

So, thanks for encouraging me. Thanks for supporting me, and thanks for reading my efforts. For those who write to me, or review me, or just tell me you like it - a HUGE THANKS -that's what keeps me going. I'm sure other writers would agree, feedback of a positive nature is food for the soul.

For those who leave me one star reviews - go get a life!

I know one can't please all the people all the time, but hey, life is like a box of chocolates - you can bet some bugger steals the one you wanted!

My "go-to" Girls !!!!

waif's picture

Tanya,

You and Karin Bishop are my 'go-to' girls. When I have nothing new to read, I go back and re-visit your works, as they lift me up. I am amazed that you are both so prolific.

I'm reminded of a joke that I once heard a stand-up comic say...

"I went to my local bookstore and was so pissed off because I had to wait almost 45 minutes for the new Stephen King book to come out."

I just picked up Marine 2 and wanted to read the first book again just to get my mind in the right place for it. I have Amazon notify me as soon as either of you publish a new book....but I still check your listings several times a week....just in case. Some I have read so often I keep expecting the pages on my Kindle to show wear.

Thank you so much for writing books that make me feel good about me, and please please please consider sequels to Monique and When I Count to Three. They are my favorites.

With all the love an avid reader can give,

Karin Bishop and Tanya are my go to girls when I need a new read or an old one even. I also agree that Monique so needs a sequel that it kills me to read, but I have read it so many times that my kindle does show wear at the edges of the pages of Monique.

Thank you Tanya

I always look forward to seeing a new Tanya Allan on the shelves so I hope you continue to get pleasure from writing them.

I'm a Monique fan Too!

Just wanted to say I have had great pleasure reading your books, and I would love to be able to read the rest of Monique's story as well. It has been so long since you wrote her story that I have kind of given up hope on that happening?

Thanks for all the enjoyment you have given me reading your books.

I have to chime in too

I have all you books on my kindle and I agree with the others that a sequel to Monique is essential. I will accept though any new Tanya Allan books whether sequel or not.

tried to keep up

I tried to keep up, but you pump them out so fast. Though our methodologies are different, you certainly have your loyal fan base. (I lost mine being political, lesson learned.) Here's to the next 50.

Katie,

You have many loyal readers. Your books tell the stories you want to tell. They are part of you. As a teacher, both the Unreachable and the God Bless the Child series touched me deeply. I have a special place in my heart for authors who truly care for their characters and believe in their stories. Your characters invest me in your stories.

I am also a fan of Maddy Bell's Gaby series, but I do confess that the sheer diverse body of work that Tanya Allan and Karin Bishop have developed make it a lot easier to rediscover a book I have read in the past.

One of these days, I'll have to try selling my wares instead of giving them away.

I was 10K behind you!

Gaby books sell @ 100 copies each so i'll never get rich from writing!

Good luck

My favorite

I like every one of your books I've read (I have read almost all 50) but for some strange reason I keep coming back to "A Tale of Two T's" more than any of the others. I just love the whole story line and the tone of the setting and the theme of redemption.
