I am working on the third book now and in this one I left open the possibility of Atalanta taking the Theater class. I can "see" some fun in her as well as myself learning the stage and plays. But I'm ignorant about the whole production angle, the plays, and even the costumes.I don't know enough to ask what I don't know. But one of the questions are what plays are used in high school and which of those could contribute to any sort of mayhem?
Because with her something unexpected always happens.
Anybody with any ideas and willing to share I'll listen and I will appreciate it.

High School plays
My highschool did a number of Shakespeare plays. Many have the possibility for things to go wrong. Take the 3 witches in Macbeth for example. At Whatley they could actually use magic. The Ghost in Hamlet could run amuck. Many of his plays have battle scenes, murder, and political intrigue. Lots could go wrong. Just look up on line the plots of his plays.
Atalanta & Theatre
There are not just acting parts, set design, lighting, sound/special effects, music score, makeup to name a few.
Atalanta might be good at costume design (this might be useful for further interaction as she could request the hero costuming class), choreography of fight scenes (as Manny says she is a natural)

hmm interesting, I cannot remember my time at school as it was errmmm well less said the better. but I do remember a lot of Shakespearean plays, perhaps a musical something from rogers and hamerstien , lots to go wrong there not just with fights but also chances for comedy , I have done more add lib , perhaps the theatre group do a revue and make up sketches panning the teachers or other students or Atalanta gets elected as a understudy for someone and it goes wrong with some one having a hate on for Her and she gets wounded on stage from a prop that was replaced , theres also classics like murder mysteries lots to choose from I hope this helps.

possible castmates
You could have Thorn and Beltane as cast mates or working backstage for Hamlet or other Shakespeare plays involving ghosts. I can see the three witches being played by Clover and company as well. Have Stalwart cast as the male lead in Romeo and Juliet (as when we first met him at Whateley he nearly drove Fey nuts with the thees and thous he spoke with) opposite Atalanta who gets cast as Juliet. Watching her trying to hold back from killing him would be a comedy onto itself, while trying to do a dramatic romance of Shakespeare. There are a few ideas for you I hope that they help you out.

guys and gals there seems to lots of chances for things to awry and all sounds delightful but alas I have not read any of his works. I know Romeo and Juliet's story of course but beyond that not much. Maybe a drama that is turned to a comedy from the efforts of a saboteur. Or perhaps something with a subtle message hidden in it.
I'm casting about looking to see if I can include a play in the story and if someone is willing to help me sort it out I'll send a short sequence (about 25 pages) of something I wrote for after Christmas to give an idea of what's on Atalanta's plate.

I've enjoyed this storyline a lot because she is no victim. High School drama might be fun. At some point in the distant future, I would like to see that she has a life after Whately.

Yes. in high school most of the plays were Shakespearian. I recall MacBeth primarily.
In college they began to drift toward "A streetcar named Desire" and that ilk, when I returned uhm.... around two decades later they were doing musicals.

Why Stick with standard school plays, why not pick something really different? It is Whateley after all.
Bent, the play ( and Movie ) bout the origin of the pink triangle. It was used to denote gay and trans by the Nazis in the concentration camps.

Classic Broadway hits
In my school we did classic Broadway hits. Like Jesus Christ Superstar, The Pajama Game or Thurber Carnival. I am particularly proud of my miniature mushroom cloud my pyrotechnics created in The Pajama Game. Fortunately, it was the last night of the play and the scorch marks add a level of realness the the performance. Makeup hided the flash burns on my friend who was on stage. He laughed about later after hearing everyone complement him on "...his wonderful acting." during the scene. He said he wasn't acting; he really panicked when the flash pot burned faster and bigger than either of us wanted.
Then there was the musical number in The Pajama Game that nearly got the the teacher/director fired. It seem three High School Girls singing Steam Heat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0szHqIXQ2R8) in fish nets, a high-cut leotard and cleavage that makes the Grand Canyon look small was too much for some parents. When I asked my friend how she went from a B cup to a D+ cup, she said I would not believe the amount of foam was in her bra.
