On facebook I belong to a group that revolves around playing the game Real Racing 3 (awesome game by the way) and I am quite active in it. I was talking to one of the people who play the game and we got to talking about my books and that led me to revealing that I am transgender.

Their response:

You want to be a guy, I don't see it.

Priceless. With all the dark and dreary, I needed that.

Yeah, Why do you want to be a Guy??

I've had sort of the same experience.

I regularly visit a site that is devoted to MST3K fans. They stream the show 24/7 365 and the chat is always active. When I finally "came out" to them, so to speak, they all said pretty much the same thing. http://www.deep13.us/synth if you're interested. I go by Cathy_t_ over there, my old "handle."

Interestingly enough, no one was disrespectful or snarky about my trans life and, since I let them al know about it, there have been 5 others who "came out." Three MtoF and 2 FtoM. It's kinda funny isn't it? We seem to expect disrespect or disapproval and, when we don't get it, it's like we're surprised or something.

You gotta love human nature. They always seem to do the opposite of what you think they're gonna do.
