This was sent to me as a response to a review that I responded to, but it summarizes why I write:
"Thank you for commenting on my post and for taking my musings in so lovingly. I really enjoy your efforts, which are always so thought provoking and demanding of personal introspection in terms of values and beliefs. With your fine writing you are making a powerful contribution to the cause of eliminating the scourge of transphobia, homophobia and bullying, areas that oppress others and keep us from experiencing who we really are."
If that's not validating, I don't know what is.
Maybe I should make "Making a powerful contribution to the cause of eliminating the scourge of transphobia, homophobia and bullying" my tag line.

It certainly is a great complement, AND A WELL DESERVED ONE !
I never thought of it like that, but of course what you write should indeed have the effect of making ordinary people be more accepting of extraordinary ones, and more appreciative of the worth of their differences.
I see it as an example of evolution in action. If you look at the males and females of the other Great Apes, to which group we really do belong, the size differences and the shape differences between the genders are enormous. With humans the differences in both size and shapes are far smaller, but not only that - they get less and less noticeable over time. We know that the Y Chromosome has been getting shorter and carries fewer genes on it than it used to, just 200 years ago. If we project that trend into the future, by another 500 or so it will have vanished altogether ! It is not unique - domestic fowls have no Y chromosome in the rooster, the genetic difference is that hens are XX and cockerals are Xo !
The regime in the UK is trying to make it legal and acceptable for same gender couples to marry. Who would have expected this, even 5 years ago. Things are changing, our societies are, at least some of them, becoming more accepting of varied life styles, and more compassionate, than before.
