I was denied Disability benefits today.
I'm going to appeal. I also got denied for a discount program that would have provided my insulin for free.
I might not be around much for awhile.

I'm so sorry hon
I hope you can overturn the decision on appeal
Usually it takes Three
... appeal attempts to get on it. Some states can be particularly vicious in denying you disability. In the event they deny you a 3rd time, contact your congressman for your district, and they can refer you a lawyer to take them on in Federal Court. In my case, I had to leave the east coast and fly out to the 9th Circuit Federal Court System where there is more fairness in disability reviews.
State Medicaid for your county should be able to provide emergency Medicaid care for your prescriptions especially if it's life threatening to do without (And insulin is!)

Get a lawyer who handles
Get a lawyer who handles Disability. I planned on doing that. Luckily I got Disability right away, I also have Congestive Heart Failure, and met their criteria which I looked at before I applied. I wish you luck just keep appealing it. I don't get much on food stamps 16 dollars a month. In the process of trying to see if I can get Medicaid, but am on the hospital sponsorship program.
I got my SSD on my second try
I got my SSD on my second try (They normally deny everyone the first time) I went to a lawyer and he did something that I'm convinced help me win my case. He had me write down every provider I'd been to long term from the time I was 14, when I was misdiagnosed with depression (I was granted the SSD for my Bipolar Disorder) He got records from all of them. If you go to a lawyer, and at least are prepared with names, they will be able to get the records for you, and all you should have to do is sign releases.
Hope this helps!
