So about Athena's Wisdom...

Blog About:

I never thought Issue 6 would get the response that it did.

Since my first installment, I've seen a definite decrease of reads. I know it's stupid. I know I'm just being an over-emotional bitch (I'm really good at it. I could go pro.) But each installment getting fewer and fewer readers really ate at me. I felt like I was just writing for nothing.

All I've ever wanted to do was write stories that entertained people. I've never wanted to be some great literary auteur. I think that having that as a goal lends itself very well to being a pretentious asshat.

I just want people to enjoy my stories.

Sorry, I'm crying now and being stupid.

You do entertain me Hon!

I love the story, and I truly enjoy your writing.

All of us get a little whiny now and then - it's allowed. Trust me, I have enough drama in my life to share around, and I have been more emotional over the past several months than I would have ever believed possible of myself. But you know, I wouldn't give up the ability to feel things, the ability to express my feelings and emotions, the right to be myself - I wouldn't give that up for anything.

You should be proud of what you have written. In the immortal words of Rick Nelson, "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself." He too suffered the same as you - he felt that people didn't like what he was writing, his so-called fans were pushing him to change, but he expressed his feelings very well in song. If you don't recognize the line, try listening to "Garden Party" some time.

I sincerely hope that you keep writing Athena's Wisdom, but that decision is yours to make and only you can decide if it is worth completing. I can only promise that if you do, I will keep reading it.

Whatever decision you make, always remember that you have created something that is good - don't ever let anyone take that away from you.

I like Athena's wisdom

I wonder the same about the decrease in reads and kudos over time as well.

I think that it's people knowing what the story is and it not being there cup of tea so it's avoided. I do this myself. There are certain authors I am just not interested in their writing because it's not a genre that entertains me.

Each post in my Amaranth setting is getting roughly the same rate of hits and kudos now so I figure I've got a dedicated readership.

I like Athena's Wisdom and hope you write more of it.

with so much

here and on other sites you just can't read everything, but that said this one caught my eye and i've been following from ch 1. please more.

Please continue with the story.

Erica:

The story is very good. I do hope you continue with it until you write "THE END".

About the fewer and fewer readers on each chapter, well, a couple of things, not everyone gets to read the chapters as soon as they are published. Others readers lose interest, or have their attention yanked away by something else. Please do not focus on numbers.

If you need something to focus on, focus on the comments you get, the PM's sent to you.

Write for the joy of writing. If others enjoy the story, all well and good. If they don't, all it means is their interest didn't mesh with your story, it's not a reflection of the quality of your writing, or the importance of your story.

Disappointed

I, for one, am very disappointed.
I was enjoying the story and I wish that you were continuing with it.
I do not always log on in order to read things, so, at times, do not leave kudos or comments.
However, that does not mean that I did not enjoy the story.
I hope that you change your mind and continue on.

Don't feel bad

I found that the first few chapters of a story will have tons of reads while the reader looks to see if they like a story. By the time you reach the fifth or sixth chapter the hits level out. Just be pleased someone likes your stories enough to continue reading. I used to feel the same way with my stories but don't anymore, it's just the way of the world, Arecee
