I'm going to try to break up the story differently to concentrate on fewer characters per chapter but I'll Likely return to the old format for really large events.
Hopefully this will let me get more chapters out sooner.

I'm pretty sure I still don't have all the characters straight, so that should help a bit.

It sounds a good idea to allow you to focus in more detail on fewer characters per chapter. Actually, it's quite Arthurian (which fits nicely given they are 'squires') in the size of the cast and most of Arthurian tales revolve around smaller groups of individuals. :-)
