It was good to meet up with Mads and the rest of the crew on Friday evening for dinner at a very reasonably priced carvery to fortify us for the stresses of the next two days.

We had a challenging ride(well it was to an old fart like me)visiting Laxton(where the apples originate), Southwell - which has a very impressive minster, though I personally didn't like the flying golden Jesus above the entrance to the choir. From there we rode to Wellow(look I don't make these names up)where they have the world's tallest maypole. Fortunately, we were completely out of ribbons...

After a return to our B&B to shower and change - we were glowing after our gentle exercise - we met up again with the riders at a local hostelry in Sheffield for the purpose of eating, drinking and generally carousing, except carousing wasn't available that night so the unfortunates had to try and remain awake while Mads and I bored them with utterances of a Gaby nature. They were polite enough to laugh in the right places and clapped at the end probably relieved that I'd stopped reading.

Today, we visit Ilkley Moor (pah tat optional)and will explore part of next years TdF which as you all know(or will in a moment)is where the race will start in 2014. I expect we'll force ourselves to eat and drink a bit more before ending this years Gabycon - a girl has to do her bit, ya'know.

So now you all know as much as I do...which isn't very much.

PS That you're getting this shows my new Huawei works a treat - I'm not one for hiding my dongles under a bushel...oops!
