It was good to meet up with Mads and the rest of the crew on Friday evening for dinner at a very reasonably priced carvery to fortify us for the stresses of the next two days.
We had a challenging ride(well it was to an old fart like me)visiting Laxton(where the apples originate), Southwell - which has a very impressive minster, though I personally didn't like the flying golden Jesus above the entrance to the choir. From there we rode to Wellow(look I don't make these names up)where they have the world's tallest maypole. Fortunately, we were completely out of ribbons...
After a return to our B&B to shower and change - we were glowing after our gentle exercise - we met up again with the riders at a local hostelry in Sheffield for the purpose of eating, drinking and generally carousing, except carousing wasn't available that night so the unfortunates had to try and remain awake while Mads and I bored them with utterances of a Gaby nature. They were polite enough to laugh in the right places and clapped at the end probably relieved that I'd stopped reading.
Today, we visit Ilkley Moor (pah tat optional)and will explore part of next years TdF which as you all know(or will in a moment)is where the race will start in 2014. I expect we'll force ourselves to eat and drink a bit more before ending this years Gabycon - a girl has to do her bit, ya'know.
So now you all know as much as I do...which isn't very much.

PS That you're getting this shows my new Huawei works a treat - I'm not one for hiding my dongles under a bushel...oops!

Am glad
That you are enjoying yourself and having a good time. Be Safe.

Are you following me?
We were staying about a mile from Laxton a week ago :) In fact we had lunch in the Dovecote pub last Saturday and walked (yes, walked) round the medieval strip field system for which the village is famed. We had the tandem with us and went to Southwell and Clumber Park, too.
We bought our tandem from a shop in Ilkley and had our test rides round there. I hope you've got low gears because it's a trifle hilly but then, Dorset's not actually flat either, is it?
Hope you have a lovely time. At least you've been fortunate with the weather.

Sounds...
Sounds like you, at least, have been enjoying yourself. Thank you for even thinking of your gentle readers.
Hope the rest of your stay is as refreshing and enjoyable.
Annette
Well this explains it
You obviously took most of the other writers with you to the Gabycon. This would explain why there have been so few new postings to BCTS. We do hope you all enjoy yourselves. I'm sure that is an unnecessary wish for surely you shall.
Enjoy and stay safe.
Much Love,
Valerie R
What a Pity to Miss You
How can you visit Gods country whilst I'm away. Whichever way you turn you will find the most wonderful scenery. Park your bike and go to Bettys Café never mind the beer.
Walk into the car park behind the café and look to the left for a wonderful wine bar for lunch.
As you will have already found the hills all go up and you can't freewheel.
So you need as much Yorkshire Pudding as you can find to build up your strength or you'll be trapped there forever.
Don't tell anybody how nice it is or everybody will come.
Hugs
Jules
Enjoy!
And thanks for the update.
My dongles got burned
Well I didn't need them, did I?
Glad you're having a good time; if the weather there is anything like the weather here, we're having a great Autumn so far.

No wonder you were LATE!!!!! We'd milked the Cow and fed the calf by the time you showed up!!! LOLOL. Still it was an excellent weekend and once again, thanks for the excellent company. Not sure about the interpretations of the 'Neolithic art' but they are as plausible as anything else. Anyway, it was an excellent and informative expedition.
