Yes, I know that some would consider it um XXX and kinky, but if you step back I think there is something going on that is important in the story. AND, I like her witty one liners, and general technique. AND, there was probably a team of editors that perhaps literally pulled the life out of her story, and um, spiced it up to Hollywood's sleazy, lurid standards.
Are you people seeing the scholarship and good pop psychology in this? :)

Learning to be Woman !
The last years since Christmas, 2004 have been a long pilgrimage, and especially lately, I have become quite acclimated to living in female culture. Believe me it is far different than Male, construction worker culture! :)
I think that if one believes themselves to be Transgendered, then their reaction to things should follow this book relatively closely, or eventually begin to do so.
Honestly, I have to say that while reading this, some things impact me so strongly that I can hardly sit. In fact, an observer would think that I had gone starkers bonkers with the shreiks, giggles and shudders. :)

I don't understand.
As a post op woman, I have no desire for sex or for pornography. So I did not read it for that.
I am in that book. I understood his childhood because mine was nearly as hard. It was clear to me that he thought himself to be so tough but his inner thoughts betrayed his hurt, loneliness, and the need for someone in his life to show him his own inner goodness.
She was well balanced, but like so many women, attracted to that "bad boy". I so understand that because of my own experiences, those that instilled in me some need for a strong man in my life that would hurt me at least a little.
Where the story is weak is that women's crisis centers are full of women that tried to fix their man. Being who I am, I tried to fix a very damaged woman, but there were no crisis centers for men. So, yes the story is fantasy in many senses.
I thought that the writing was very easy reading and just seemed to flow off the page. It was not intellectual because it was not meant to be that way.
Now, at 68 I and so many other women my age so need a bit of fluff and happiness because we surely do not get it from those around us.
This whole transgender, SRS thing is a big fat lie. I don't know of any post ops that have close relationships, not even with other T folk. I am Aspergers. Many T folk are on that spectrum any where. So do I and others feel isolated because we are T or because we are Aspies?
