I always thougth that story read like the opening chapters of a far longer piece.

Mind you it was somewhat complete within it's self but you did leave many threads open for possible expanding on.

The biggest one is WHY?

WHY is the kid so important? And why did his criminal, murderess mom marry his dad in the first place? Why was the dad framed with the murder of the judge from her trial?

Seems like the kid is a *pawn* in some much bigger game.

But what is that game and why are so many dying?
