I've always been a believer that much of the trouble we find ourselves in is influenced if not created by us. Okay, so I don't have much influence on the weather, the movement of celestial bodies or the government, but I do in regard to the things I do.
Life has been tough enough of late, my daughter's illness, from which she's recovering quite well, the weather and work stress. It's been very cold here, making it unpleasant and causing me to spend more on the heating than I'd like. I'm working too many hours for too little return and everyone seems to want me to see them on the same day.
Finally, it's been an expensive few months and I've spent more than I'd like paying bills for the car, the Inland Revenue and so on. Then, just to make things interesting, I left my purse with my credit and bank cards in in a shop and came home oblivious to it for at least three and more probably four hours.
If someone has handed it in to the shop, then I'll be most grateful, if someone has emptied my account - then I shall be angry and sad. Angry at my carelessness and sad because of all the things I could have used it for. I cancelled the cards as soon as I realised what had happened - I shall visit the shop at opening time tomorrow and see if honesty has prevailed, but I'm not holding my breath. Then on to the bank to find out how much is missing.
Sorry, don't feel up to doing Bike tonight, too distracted. Think my brain has gone into shut down, probably planning the next disaster to drop me in.

My wife had her purse pinched from the pannier of the tandem when we were in Spain a few years ago despite the bike's hardly being out of our sight. We think it happened at lunch time but we didn't realise it until we got back to where we were staying at about 6 pm. We cancelled the cards immediately, which made life difficult because we only have shared accounts so my cards were useless too.
It was a bit sickening to see how much they'd managed to spend that afternoon (£1000s) and even after the cancellation they'd been used to pay road tolls. However we were refunded the whole amount and didn't lose a penny. The cards were with the Co-op bank and the credit card is Bank of Scotland. Both were very sympathetic and helpful. They may have difficulties using the cards in shops because of chip and pin security and buying on-line should be difficult because the goods should only be sent to your address. I think at that time a signature was sufficient in Spain.

Yes, that pin addition to credit cards was a great idea. Sadly, they then chose to stick "tap and go" on the cards that bypasses the need for a chip if purchases are under $50. A bit silly in my mind.

I Use an traditional English Flageolet. Which is Bascily a wooden Penny Whistle or a Penny whistle that looks like a recorder. And no I am not very good at but it Is something I like to play with.

I'm sorry to here about your difficulties. Jung said that we all cause the things around us to happen by internalizing our issues and problems. He felt that if we didn't make a choice, then the world would force a decision on us. Personally, I think he was an idiot - but I can say from my own personal experience that when we internalize our problems, our thoughts, and our emotions (especially when in stressful situations) that they have a way of coming out sideways.
Everything we do is influenced by our emotions and our most internal thoughts. We can't help but let our troubles affect the world around us.
I had a boss years ago whose favorite statement was that you had to leave your home life at home. He was a moron - you can't do that. You don't have to force your problems on other people, but you can't just turn them off either. I have found that the best thing for me is to find someone to talk to, or even just find a quiet place and have a good cry. Quite often I just go for a drive and let it all loose while by myself. I've never been a big believer in miracles or the intervention of God, but I do find that sometimes talking to him (or sometimes even yelling at him) helps. I'm probably just talking to myself, but at least it let's me vocalize things and get them out in the open where I can look at them from all the different angles and sometimes that helps me to cope.
I hope that you get through this rough patch and your life gets better, and I greatly hope that your daughter recovers.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your cards, but the card companies should make everything good back to you after the time time the cards were lost. I also hope that all was found intact at the store and you haven't lost anything, but it would still be a good idea to request those accounts be closed, and new accounts opened, under the circumstances. Most Card companies are more than willing to do just that upon request, as it means keeping a customer.
And that, my dear friend, shows you have a reason, and not an excuse, for no Bike tonight!
Give our favorite felines their well deserved scritches, scratches, and tummy rubs, because this was not their fault!

I forgot to mention that I am glad to hear your daughter is improving. It has been a couple of weeks since the last update, but if things were getting worse, I am sure we would have been updated as events happened. Be sure and tell your daughter she has lots of good friends here in BCTS! And lot's of good friends praying for an excellent recovery!!

I've had similar "senior" moments... Left a credit card behind (luckily it was waiting for me!) And left my bag (with my laptop inside it) somewhere else (in plane view)... It was still there when I went back. (Back when I carried a wallet - mine was stolen... And, the inconvenience was quite painful (getting the Credit Card "fixed" was tougher back in '82). Though, that time, some items of sentimental value were lost... And never recovered. *sighs* I no longer carry irreplaceable things... Just copies. Hard lesson to learn.)
Hope that your purse was found by one of those honest folks, and you get it all back.

Having to cancel credit cards is a real bummer cos it sometimes takes up to 10 working days to get them replaced.
