your definition of stupid. For example, the Random House dictionary's first definition is "lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind, dull". Another major dictionary's first definition is "Slow to learn or understand; obtuse." By either of these definitions a person can be "stupid".

That said, I agree that most people are NOT stupid. It's commonly applied in a derogatory manner to people, specially when it's not accurate. More often than not, when used with people, it's being incorrectly used. As the person in question is unlikely to be actually "stupid" but said person probably engaged in some activity that most of us would consider "stupid". This is as you said.

I don't know anyone (myself included) that's never done something that even they consider stupid. Hopefully, as I get older, the number of truly stupid things I do will diminish! I know a few people that fit the above definitions. That said, every one of them has shown themselves to be LESS likely to do actions that most of us would consider REALLY STUPID.
