Uhhh. Wow.
First off, to all of you who have been following Maiden by Decree, thank you. I'm so happy that you're enjoying the story as it unfolds.
And to think I first passed what I had written around my friends in the Whateley Group of authors and asked if the story was worth going on with...
The story will be continuing (I think it's turning into another one of my epics. *sigh*) I can promise even more twists and turns, surprises, and Deirdre's rather acerbic way of looking at things. All the comments received have given me ideas, so be warned... lol
Thanks again all. This one has been and is a lot of fun to write. I'm glad you find it fun to read as well.

More Deirdre - yay!
That's really great news Maggie. Sorry I've not commented on it, but I think it's a very entertaining story, Deirdre is brilliant and I love the humour - long may it continue!

Uhh. Wow. Is well deserved
You have written some of my fave online TG stuff over the last half dozen years or so --your parts of Whateley, Heaven and Hell, your slices of Caregivers and some more obscure things like Mako and other delayed but hopefully not forgotten sagas.
This story is funny yet serious and something of a send up of more traditional magic/medieval times stories. If I read the prophecy right he, soon to be she, will not only bring good fortune to the kingdom and children to their happy marriage if she accepts but it will be a marriage of equals, no shy, demure weak thing Deirdre. She will be’ a rose with many thorns and not afraid to use them’ to paraphrase a description one of your stories gives of the character Persephone from Best and the Brightest.
We already may look forward to kidnapping and murder attempts upon our heroine as well as attempts to discredit her. Surely, from the rumors, the nasties must believe the knight is gay and the bride is a boy. The bad guys will try to use this to discretit him, much to their disappointment.
I also wonder about the ancient magic at work, will this have a lingering effect on Deidre and she will become a sorceresses or at least have some great gift for healing for example. I think of her prematurely aged mother as one the magic may affect and restore some fair measure of youth and beauty to one who has struggled so hard for her family.
Whatever your intentions, great start so far.
I hope, and the prophecy seems to confirm, even if Deidre becomes happy as a woman and besotted with her husband, she will always be the spitfire she is now.
