Cluck, cluck, cluck... Happy Thanksgiving.
If you're not American, sorry, but still put up that bag that comes inside the turkey that holds the giblets, if you've been good, it will be filled with stuffing or pumpkin pie. Don't forget to put up the inflatable farmer holding the axe either, it just isn't Thanksgiving without the murder of a well fed bird.

Thanks Turkey Claus. Hats off
Thanks Turkey Claus. Hats off to you too on this day of the long knives (for birds anyway).

Dad got us a turkey from a new discount market in West Milwaukee
NO neck or gravy packet!
Aaaaaaaah!
Well the gravy is easy to make on your own, a flour roux -- flour and fat/turkey fat or butter -- then drippings, a little ground pepper and stir a lot until it boils. Don't add salt until you taste it. The drippings usually have pleanty.
But our late 1940s (1948 edition?) The Settlement Cookbook stuffing recipe is giblet based. The Evil Blonde -- my sister -- got chicken gizzards at a local market to make up the difference. We did ours this last Sunday as we are going out today.
Thus the moral is cheap is not always better.
Bet the Wally World food market birds speak Chinese.

Have a safe holiday. Off to one of my cousins this afternoon for a get together.

P.S. It started Wednesday at dusk... Happy Hanukah! to all our Jewish friends.
P.P.S. Though we are not Jewish, The Settlement Cookbook was created by a Jewish charitable organization in Milwaukee. They helped immigrants to America and I believe pretty much ran the Milwaukee Public Schools Home Ec program for years... Mom was a graduate.(1944 along with our future Govenror Dryfus )
The Original book with updates was published from like 1908 to 1992. There is a brand new version out recently I understand.

I could be wrong, but
I thought Hanukah wasn't until December the 8th of this year. I could be wrong, but that is the date I've seen everywhere.
On a side note, the Turkey is really saying "Please, for the love of God, eat the ham!!! EAT THE HAM!!!!"
Re: Easy gravy.
Corn starch works MUCH better for gravy. No lumps!

Thanksgiving, Stan?
Why yes! Thanksgiving here was Nov 5th, when we light bonfires to give thanks for the safe survival of His Majesty King James from those evil men who wanted to blow him up!
We celebrate with fireworks and eat badly-barbecued food outside in the dark.
