When I first started this universe, everything was going fine. There was the right balance of story and characters, enough to populate the town and keep it still mysterious. Now however, the town has been starting to get flooded with characters and all different kinds of stories, all of which that seem to be happening at once. So sadly there is going to be a new DRU rule from now: No More Stories in Ravencrest.
I hate to do this but there's really no other way. The town is just too crowded now and not everything can happen at the same time.
As an extension to that rule, No More New Unseen either. Anyone who has already started working on new Unseen or stories in Ravencrest are fine but starting from this point on, I'm not excepting either anymore.
New Unseen can be written about just not in Ravencrest.

I think it makes sense. No need to overfill the town and besides, there is also Skogshaven and doubtless other places as well. I am sure there is probably a place in Louisiana, with a nice bayou feel to it, or maybe in the desert or who knows where. The US is a big place and there are doubtless other nifty places to play.

I think you're write Ravencrest is getting a bit overcrowded. It would be nice to see a few new locations pop up. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Any new place
would not even have to be a locus, or center of a lot of activity. Just the characters, trying to interface with the townsfolk w/o being discovered? I don't think it would work out in a larger population area. No place to run etc. Louisana might be an excellent place to locate one. I can hear that French Canadian accent now.

Well, in the story that we've been working on...
I created (per suggestion) a new town for my character to be in. I decided to call it Finson, in tribute to Maggie. Maybe that would be a good place? It has witches, at least!

If I were to write a DRU story I would definitely set it in Scotland, there are plenty of remote little towns all over my country as well as a rich heritage of native unseen types including witches, fae and shape-shifters

You don't need fictional locations in the UK, if Mary Alice visited Glastonbury the most remarkable thing about her would be her American accent. Otherwise she'd fit right in ;-)

I have really enjoyed reading all the stories in DRU. So much so that I decided to register here to tell you all what a wonderful job you're doing with the great universe EOF has provided. I have to agree though that Ravencrest is starting to get a bit overcrowded and adding any more new characters would make is seem less mysterious. There surely are other places that stories can take place, Skogshaven and Finson are possibilities and I'm sure there are similar communities all over the world. I look forward to seeing DRU expand however it happens.
