Well, I had an MRI a couple weeks ago, and now I know why things are the way they are. As far as I am concerned, I function pretty well, have no physical disabilities, and have been pretty successful in life. One thing that has always bothered me is that in certain social situations, I just mess up. I just don't understand what is going on.

I'd had a really severe fall as an infant, and the MRI shows part of my right frontal lobe is, well not that good. The Docs I have talked to say that the brain has amazing regenerative capability and had it not been for the headaches, I might never have known.

It doesn't change anything. No Tumor, no surgical option. I'll probably live to be 100. Just a little stupid at times is all. Still a little freaked out here. I'll get over it.

at least you will still be around, hon

I have kinda gotten used to "hearing" from you. The occasional brain fart is not a problem, and now you have a medical excuse, unlike the rest of us...

MRIs Are A Mixed Bag

It's happened a couple of times to me now. You go for an MRI for something specific, and it turns out that thing is just fine, but, "Oh? What's this thing over here?" Well, it turns out that isn't anything, either, but the docs don't give you that verdict until you've had a series of more complicated, expensive and/or invasive tests, and worried yourself half to death.

They're called "incidental findings" and they're a bloody nuisance.

Not being a Doctor ...

Well, the section I saw, assuming I knew what I was looking at, looked roughly like half the meat of a Walnut. I think brains are supposed to be generally symetrical. About 1/5th of the right side is missing. They look at it and then ask me if I felt that my life was successful? Well, aside from being TG and losing my family over it, I'd say that I have done as well as I wanted to. He looked at me and said, well, there you are.

Last night, I was feeling pretty hysterical about it, but today, not so much. I do not know if the test proved anything but that you can do OK without part of your brain.
