Let me the first this year to reprise that awful pun:
"Don we now our gay apparel."
I first saw it used in a trans reference in Playboy over forty years ago.

I remember
I remember that cartoon, a guy singing to himself as he was putting on a Little black Dress.

nostalgia
I remember it being sung on "All in the Family" by Beverly the female impersonator.
I think I saw the same cartoon......
I think I saw the same cartoon..... if memory serves it was an obvious short haired male, in front of a mirror pulling on a dress that seemed to already have stuffed boobs, and a devilish look on his face. It was in black and white rather than color.
Amazing what we can drag from the murky depths, eh?

Takes me back
I remember that cartoon well, funny as a teen some things rivit to your memory "Yes! there are other people out there!"
What a wonderful world we have today that kids can so easily find out they are not alone. Happy Holidays.
gay apparel
I never saw the cartoon, but it sounds funny anyway. Although for myself, i dont feel "gay" in the being homosexual sense wearing a dress, but "gay" in the happy sense.
