I read a story several years ago, about a young man who has to help out at a department store filling in as a "Santa's Helper". As the days go by, he becomes increasingly feminine. She has a marvelous touch with the children, and receives the name 'Merry'. It was a touching Christmas story and I'd like to read it again.

The Unexpected Elf
It's The Unexpected Elf by C. M. Hansen and I agree; it's very good.
Thank you, Michelle
That was indeed it. I read it once again for the first time. I smiled a lot, and I cried a bit, and I feel a bit better then I did before. I guess I needed a touch of Merry in my life. I think we all do from time to time.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they speak.
I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.
Someone Else Gave You The Title
It was definitely one of the most touching Christmas stories I have ever read and deserves much better than the reception it got here.
I hope a little extra exposure through your blog will give it the attention it deserves,
Joanne
Unexpected Elf
Just got finished reading it again, and yes I cried, again. It is one of the very best Christmas stories I've ever read, TG or otherwise.
Hugs!
