I have just had a ’phone call from Angharad to say that her Aunt (who had lived with her since 1987) died this afternoon at the age of 83. She had been unwell for a number of days.
Ang says that she might not be able to post an a chapter of EAFOAB tonight, it very much depends how she feels. She hopes everyone will understand if she doesn't get "the muse" this evening. I don't know if she will be on her ’puter this evening, but you could PM her, or PM me and I will pass on any messages when she ’phones me later.

I'm still in state of mild shock, I wasn't expecting her to have died when I looked in on her late this afternoon. In fact, I knew she was very poorly, but I was half expecting a flea in my ear, because I'd requested the emergency doctor against her wishes.
It was all to be in vain, I could see she had slipped away which was confirmed by the paramedics. As a sudden death, the coroner is informed and that means a vist from his agents - the plod. Actually the paramedics and police were really nice, and can you believe we spent the time waiting for the undertakers talking about bikes - the police have to stay until the body is removed - presumably to safeguard it against tampering, where foul play is suspected. It isn't here, as she hadn't been well enough to eat any of my cooking for a few days.
To be serious, Hazel, my aunt was one of my earliest supporters and accepted me as her god daughter and niece with no problem at all. She lived with me from 1987, we were both on our own and she was neglecting herself. In the early days she quite enjoyed herself walking the dog and so on, and I fed her up so she looked much better.
Latterly, she had mobility problems and then developed a painful back with a definite kyphosis. She loved the cats, and spoiled them rotten - so they're ging to miss her too.
She's been a feature in my life since I was a kid, contributing handbags to me when I was a toddler. She told me my grandmother had observed I should have been a girl, even at that tender age. She's been a companion of sorts for the last twenty three years - we did have our disagreements from time to time, and I'm sure she found me as difficult to live with as I did her at times.
I shall miss her, and I'm sure she'd be touched by the sympathy of my friends on this site, whom I've bored rigid for a number of years.

... I know. Like most people my age I've experienced bereavement but never for someone I'd shared a house with and certainly not for so long. That must be doubly difficult and you have my deepest sympathy. Obviously we all want you take as much time as you need to come to terms with your loss - at least as much as it's possible to do.

Oh, wow....
So much of that going around. First my younger daughter's "God Mother" lost her mother. Then another friend lost her father. Then a third friend almost lost his sister (she had a stroke). And, now Angharad has lost her aunt.

You have my sincerest deepest sympathies I think I can understand your loss and pain a little.
I lost my other half my biggest supporter and the light of my life after sharing our lives together for 32 years.
She passed away in Feb of 09 and I still miss her and at times remembering still brings a tear to my eye.
Like has been shown here where you have a great many who love and support you here, I had many online friends that gave me their support, so I know the support shown here will be a comfort to help you as well.
As for Bike first take care of yourself and we will all wait until you have done whatever mourning you need to do. We all love Bike and wait sometimes impatiently for each installment, but we love you most of all and you and your well being are way more important than a few chapters of Bike.

First up, apologies for the slow response - I first noticed this thread this morning, before heading off to work, so a bit late to formulate an appropriate response.
As you've already said, your Aunt's loss came as a huge shock to you - not least because she's been living with you for so long. So apart from the grief and mourning, there'll also be the sense of physical loss.
Take as long as you need to come to terms with events - remember, Bike should always be at the bottom of your daily priority list, as although we enjoy reading it (and you hopefully enjoy writing it), it is, nonetheless, just a bit of frivolous fun. We've coped for several days without a Bike fix before, we can certainly cope now while you're dealing with your loss and grief.

It was with great sadness that I read of the reason for a delay in bike posting. Apart from my daughter's wedding last week, I have spent the last 5 years with funerals, and can appreciate Ang's sadness and sense of loss. Ang, you have my most sincere condolences and a wish that you take to time to remember the life and not the death. As someone else said, put the 'Bike' in the shed until you feel ready. We understand and will wait.

This message is a bit belated because
I have sent Angharad a personal email immediately after learning of her loss. I have not phoned her though cos' her phone will probably be red hot with all sorts of people arranging funeral stuff and sending her condolences.
I thought others might be thinking I am being remiss in not posting here so I have done so just to reassure others that I have not forgotten or forsaken Angharad.
My thoughts are with her.
