I'm not sure whose idea the "random solos" was or who implemented it, but I imagine if it wasn't you, then you at least had a big hand in it.
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading stories I haven't seen for a long time, and I know it's the only explanation why my own meager three stories keep accumulating a few hits per week.
No one could convince me that I'm on any par with the best story writers here, but I did post them hoping that others might enjoy or otherwise find something of value in them. Evidently others are still at least opening the links.
I just wish more people would comment after reading a story. The authors need feedback in order to grow.
Well, thanks everyone here. I'm really glad to be a part of the community here.

You're welcome :)
And don't forget the Jewel Box links to older stories in the masthead. :)

I absolutely agree.
For some reason my solos keep popping up on the random list (at least it appears that way to me) and it appears to be encouraging people to read them. I've suddenly started getting hits and votes for them, and readers are also looking at my profile and reading my longer tales as well. Not many extra comments though :(
I must also say that it has encouraged me to read other peoples solos as well. When I've got the time, that is.
An excellent addition to the website, all in all. Thanks, Erin.

Jewel Box
A story called "Thirty Million Reasons" came up in jewel box today. It is one of my favorite unfinished stories.
Let me add my thanks again to everyone who helped add the random solo feature. It works. It really, really works.

Brilliant idea but...
...why can't there be more random solos appear on the front page.
For me it's now a very quick skim down the Quickcuts then on to the Random Solos
For any good idea
...there's always someone...
Penny ;)
There's often two or three...
...but what are you talking about
Such a huge success!
Everybody seems to be enjoying them. I have been quite excited myself but alas for me the delight is waning. Disillusionment is creeping in.
I refer to the five random stories which everybody except myself is enjoying. Am I the only one who can't locate them or any link to them? I have scoured the home page practically everyday for a sign, a clue, some cryptic reference to guide me to them.
Nothing.
I would have mentioned it before but have been inhibited because of my renowned incompetence when dealing with all things related to computers. But ... but .... well I read and surely I should be able to see something?
Just another example of life ganging up against me I suppose. Mustn't complain.

Fleurie, You probably are
Fleurie,
You probably are using one of the alternate themes for viewing. I've tested several and they do not show the random solos.
Go into our account settings and turn on the default theme and see if they show up then. They should be in the upper left hand corner of the left column when using the default theme.
And BTW Erin - yes they are absolutely working - Two comments yesterday on old stories - Thank you so much to Dorothy and Faraway!

So it wasn't Life being anti me ....
.... after all!
How very encouraging. Perhaps 2010 won't be after all. Although it's early days yet I suppose ....
But how very clever you are Kristy. I remember now that I did change things to reversi. There was a very good reason for it at the time. A reason that I shall doubtless remember, or more likely will be painfully brought home to me, in due course.
In the meantime I will be able to read all the random Solos. And try to work out were everything else has disappeared to!
But it IS nice to know that there was a reason for it. That it wasn't the act of some malignant force. Although come to think of it, is anyone else using reversi? Was it just myself? Was there an element of selectiuon ? No .... mustn't go down there.
Thanks again Kristy,

Fleurie
