When Jon was offered a possible cure for Cancer he didn't expect to wake up as a girl, let alone a mermaid.
Jon is dying of cancer and is offered a potential cure that will either save him or kill him faster. He's hoping for the latter and so it comes as a surprise when he wakes up healthy, alive, and with a body very different than he's used to.
