As the drabble I posted for last week's contest entry shows I'm experimenting with the short story. I've been attempting to write a flash of some sort every day for the next thirty days. So far I haven't missed though I did get pretty shy with House Hunting.

I'm having trouble accessing some websites. For example, I'm able to access this site but the Whately Academy site is timing out. Also SOL (stories on line) storiesonline.net is timing out. There are some other sites, like gamesgames and agame that are timing out. So, can anyone give me a clue as to why some sites are timing out and others (like this one) are not?
There are some series' that I haven't seen any new work in for some time. For some of them I haven't seen the authors being active here either... One of my favorite series is the SPA universe. Yet I haven't seen any activity in the universe or from any of the authors who wrote in it for quite some time. There are a couple of other universes that are on hiatus here as well but right now I'm quite tired and can't think of the names...
Anyway, maybe other readers here could post the stories they're missing too.

Lately I've gotten a bit of contract labor that has me out-of-doors cleaning up around campgrounds and a local boat launch ramp... Where I live is heavy with poison oak and ivy... being out and about doing what I've been doing means I've been all up in the poison oak and ivy! So I'm feeling somewhat good about earning some immediate cash, but I'm also suffering somewhat due to being all up in the poison oak especially. I didn't see any poison ivy but suspect it is there too, so sort of a toss up for days as far as what I'm feeling....
We've had a lot of blogs and comments about fundraising. So I'd like to add my abilities to the pot so to speak. I'm a fair to middling proofreader, and while I don't have a degree or any such thing I believe that I'm able to catch most common errors in usage and spelling. And no I will not be depending only on spell check or some grammar engine to help me out!
What I need: A proofreader, and possibly an editor. Someone to check spelling, grammar etc. Also someone to help me with flow and consistency issues.
What I'm working on: A Whateley fan fiction or Whateley independent fiction.
What I have: Currently about 10,000 words +- a few... I'm not stuck per se, but can see some issues with what I have written.
