I'm sure that a lot of you are wondering where the rest of the story is, I'm usually pretty punctual with getting my chapters up at least once a week. But throughout the whole of this story I've really struggled with the narrative. I love Olivia, I love everything about her. I think that this story was too much of an undertaking for me. I love writing it or at least I did when I started. About halfway through however it started to become a choir, something I did because I didn't want to abandon the story halfway through.
There has been a bit of confusion about where in the CRU timeline some of my stuff falls and I blame myself----my stories aren't exactly linear. So I thought I'd take the time and try to clear up some of the confusion. :)
Today is a very special day for me, an anniversary if you will. Even though I read on this site for a long time, it took me a while to actually become a member. It took even longer than that for me to finally write something. But a year ago today, I finally broke my 6 year writing dry spell and posted the very first chapter of The Syndicate. I'd like to thank Lilith for allowing me a chance to play in her world. As it turns out I haven't really stopped writing since. I've managed to pump out one story after another, from Center to Retcon and back again.
Now that I Am The Night is winding down, there's a chapter and an epilogue left, my question is what to do next. I have two more Retcons I want to do plus an original story of mine that has been kicking around in the back of my head for a bit. The first Retcon is about the Teen Titan Raven and the second is about a really cool character---I'm not willing to spoil who that is yet though.
I'm not sure how many people here watch Smallville but I've been a frequent viewer for the last ten years. I know this has no relevance to the site but I thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who's interested. This Friday, April 22nd, on The CW a new episode of Smallville will be airing titled "Booster". It will introduce Booster Gold into the Smallville universe as well as two Blue Beetles: the former, Ted Kord and the new one, Jaime Reyes. So if anyone is interested, I suggest you check it out.
I'm feeling a bit discouraged with things as they are. I feel as if the Retcon interest is dying out. There are fans of this universe---I love them to death---but it feels like we're not picking up any new ones. A lot of us write these things and only a few us seem to be getting any real feedback from it. I didn't want to write this but its starting to get tiring writing things that only a handful of people seem to care about.
I was originally going to write my Green Arrow sequel next but it looks like my Red Devil story was a little more popular than I thought and numerous people have asked me to continue it. So I'm going to write a few more chapters of ot until I find a satisfying conclusion. After that I'll move onto the further adventures of Olivia Queen. I've already created a Title Page for the story and am hard at work on a next chapter and changed some of the perimeters on my first part to match. It should be up soon, maybe in a day or two.
Now I've got to get back to my game and finish playing :)
My next story was going to be a Mattie story but frankly every chance that I've tried to write it I just can't seem to come up with a thing for it. So I'm going to put the story on hold for a while and move onto something else. I've got a couple more ideas, I'm not sure which one is going to come first though.
Now that Best Served Cold is winding down toward the end, I've started developing two new stories. The first will be a follow up Center story, that actually takes place at the same time as Best Served Cold, starring Mattie. The story will fill in some of the blanks of this story.
The second story is How To Be a Hero, a sequel to my Green Arrow story. The story will be told in a similar fashion like the first one, with a combination of present day events and flashbacks.
Lilith has created a Wiki for the Center universe unfortunately neither she nor I are really versed on how to put it together so right now all we have is a main page with a picture and nothing more. I've gotten her permission to write this in hopes that you...our wonderful fans...can tell us what you'd like to see on the Wiki. I know there's already a list of Center characters at http://thecenter.x10.mx/ but this Wiki will help us put down timelines and things like that...helping those lost in the Universe...kinda like me.
I have a question I'm hoping for some answers too. Coming up in the story very soon, there's a moment where the story has a possibility of branching off into a
side story. What I want to know is if I should branch off into the side story at that moment, taking the narrative away from the story for a few chapters or if I should continue the narrative as it is and post the side story chapters afterwards.
I'm posting this now even though Best Served Cold is only about half way over.
I wanted to give people a good idea of what they can expect next from me. So after this story, I'm going to either move on to my Red Lantern Retcon on Laira or the side story to Best Served Cold, starring Mattie and Clara.
In the future I've got both the sequels to Green Arrow and Blue Beetle plus a Retcon on Black Panther. I've also got another Syndicate story I'm developing too.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the University of Chicago because that's where All That Glitters is going to take place in, well a good portion of it anyway. I'm just started to write it now so any information on it would help.
Lilith asked me to post this blog for her because she's having computer problems. The motherboard on her laptop is fried and unfortunately it won't be fixed for about two weeks. She just wanted to let anyone know who was interested that she was going to be out of touch until then.
I hate this time of the year because its so damn cold. I live in Western New York, just north of Buffalo. From the beginning of October and all the way to April sometimes, the weather here is absolutely frigid. It's horrible. The worst part is that its not consistent. One day it will be nice, sunny and sixty and the next day it could be freezing and thirty five. I've lived in this area all my life and you'd think it would get easier over the years but it doesn't.
I think its time for me to take a breather and pull back a little. I've just finished Weight Problem and as much as I want to start writing my Blue Beetle Retcon right away, I think I need a day or two to recharge my creative battery. I've got a pretty good idea on how I want to write it but right now I think a few days won't kill me.
So in a couple of days look for The Blue Bug From Outer Space.
The final two posts of this story might be a little different than the others. They may or may not be more than one chapter long. It all depends on how much I want to fit into one chapter. Right now I'm writing Ch. 14, which will switch POVs back and forth between siblings. Then in my last post I'll have the last chapter and an epilogue, at least that's the plan at the moment.
I'll be taking a little Center break after that and moving on to two Retcons, the first one being Blue Beetle and the second Booster Gold.
I've been thinking about a sequel in my head...I think it'll be called How to Become of Hero or some such nonsense. It'll take place a few months later with the Green Arrow trying her hardest to fight crime and finding that she doesn't really know what she's doing. She'll end up taking hero lessons, all the while investigating who hired Merlyn and dodging a deadly assassin with her in his sights. There's also the issue of high school, boys (Roy?) and trying to fit into a world she knows nothing about (girlhood).
a new chapter is going to be up in a few days....I'm suffering from that horrible thing called writer's block. I've got some idea where I want to go with it but I can't seem to put it to page. So I'm hoping to have it up in a few days...hopefully tomorrow but you never can tell.
Ok so my whole delay thing is no longer a problem. It turns out that my cold was some kind of twenty four hour thing and its practically gone now. I'm busy writing chapter eleven and I should have it, and chapter twelve, up in a few days.
PS: I think this story might be longer than I originally thought. I'm not sure yet but its definitely looking like it.
I'm not nearly done with my Green Arrow Retcon but I'd like to propose a vote. I've currently got two more stories in the works, another Retcon and a new Center story.
I wanted to know which one I should write and post first?
My new Retcon is going to be about the Jaime Reyes incarnation of Blue Beetle. I've got some pretty cool ideas on how to do it. My new Center story is about a pair of twins, a brother and sister, who change at the same time and are hounded by some shadowy individuals who are out to get them. So what do you guys think, which one should I write first?
I'm pretty floored. Today has been exactly one month since I've started writing on this site. I've been a member for a while but last month was the first time that I've ever gotten up enough courage to post something here, even though I've wanted to for a long time. I've been extremely overwhelmed by all the great comments and praise that my stories have received from everyone one.
So thanks to you all and here's hoping there will be many stories to come.
Here's what I've got planned in as far as Becca goes:
Coming up next is a shorter story called Face of the Enemy.
After that is another new Center story I'm writing called Weight Problem. Becca and company will appear at some point in the story, including one of her friends that left with Gideon. That person is going to play a prominent role in this one.
Then I'll pump out another Becca, hopefully around the same length as the first.
I'm hoping that all of these stories will take place in the months between the end of my first story and the beginning of Off Center.
