Has anyone else here been following Operation Rescue - The New Co-Ed by Elrod W on the Fictionmania site? It is a fascinating and well written story. The first chapter was posted two years ago. Chapter twenty was posted today; and the story is not yet complete. I find myself going to the fictionmania site just to check for up dates to this one story.

The following is the synopsis for the first chapter, "A young man gets in trouble and loses his scholarship. It looks like his dream of college to escape a poor future is doomed - until he sees an ad recruiting 'surrogates'." As it turns out, a pro-life organization called the Morris Foundation is recruiting volunteer 'surrogates' to carry fetuses to term which would have been otherwise aborted. Alas, there aren't enough female volunteers to meet their needs so they also accept male volunteers. Using the Morris-Henderson Process, a complete set of female reproductive organs can be cloned and placed into these male volunteers. (I'd be in line banging on the doors if this were today's reality)

Anyway, I've been enjoying the story and think a lot of readers here would as well.

By the way, to list just a few of the authors I look for at Big Closet on nearly a daily basis:
Sleethr, Whisper and I am NOT Mystique
Louise Anne, Suzanne's Cousin Claire, the final chapter has just posted
Tiffany Sharr, Bears Know Best
poetheater, Transitioning Home and 300 Rains
Morpheus, I am only listing ongoing stories and Morpheus usually posts complete stories.
Since I did say I would list a few authors, I'll stop before I list the entire Big Closet author index. But I do especially like Sleethr's writings.

not posted here?

If it gets posted here I may read it. FM layout is far too difficult for me to navigate and annoys me. I can barely tolerate getting to my own page to see the lack of comments I have.

I also notice my name not on the list. I'm offended.

operation rescue and others

Elrod W has several good stories posted on fictionmania. has anyone ever asked him for permission to cross-post them here?

I Read It

It's a well done TG/sci-fi story, but if I think more deeply about it, the premise is very strange. In the story, an organization is spending great scientific, medical and financial resources to provide wombs for aborted feti (fetuses). Saving them is fine, but it's a waste of these resources.

Less money could be spend and many more abortions stopped if birth control and family planning were advertised and promoted. Look at abortion rates in Europe in countries where it's legal; rates are much lower than ours. If birth control and morning after pills were widely available and free to lower income groups and those like HS and college kids, it would save money and medical resources spent on miscarriages, abortions and births.

Religious groups might object, but there is supposed to be no mixing of religions and our government. The beliefs of some religion should have nothing to do with laws and government funding. This organization is private, however; if it advertises and provides treatment/medicine under Drs supervision, school boards, college administrations that take government money and local government should not try to ban its efforts for religious reasons. Or stop it from "setting up shop" conveniently close to schools, etc.

Sorry about the rant. I just want to inform and help anyone who needs it; to make everyone better off. Religious people can follow whatever practices they want as long as it doesn't effect others

Renee

The Story Is Interesting

.... even if the premises are a bit far fetched. Perhaps more important is the development of the main character and some of those around her. Selfish motives have changed. She has realized that bearing a child has much more to it than just carrying a fetus for nine months. There are some serious conflicts that have been developing, and it's interesting to see how the protagonist is handling them.

Excellent story

It's actually the only thing I'm reading on Fictionmania and I kind of wish it was posted here. It's not the usual story I read but it's very well written and the emotional journey of the lead character has been compelling enough to draw me into it.

Yes, thanks Bev - been reading it!

But must catch up on the last few chapters.

It's different but entertaining.
