In Defense of Hot Chocolate
|
I just read a blog extolling the benefits of coffee over tea. Well, I'd just like to get my own two bits worth in there.
A nice cuppa is nice. A mug of java joe is good. But I think hot chocolate is great!
Plus! It's got antioxidants up the kazoo, helps fight blood clots n strokes, helps stem dementia, it's good for the diet (low sugar versions, of course), it's an aphrodisiac, and it tastes goooooooooood!

Hey, this is no flame war, nor is it in any way, shape or form a put-down of the recent post about coffee. (fyi I love coffee, too, as well as tea) Just a little tongue-in-cheek humor, and tryin' to get some feel-good posts up to balance out the recent all-too-serious ones.
Lighten up, kids!

Even a diabetic such as I....
...am allowed to drink an occasional mug of hot cocoa! Yum! And in New Jersey we drink kawww-fee.

hot cocoa
The real problem is actually finding a good cup of hot cocoa. It's hardly out there. I went to starbucks and spent like 3 bucks on hot cocoa and it tasted like dirty hot water. Don't even get me started on the crap from McDonalds.
To be honest, I think the best hot cocoa is from 7-11 even if it is a tad pricey.

Coffee, Cocoa...
This could be an election campaign I could get addicted to!

mortal enemy
I was addicted to hot chocolate for awhile... the results... weren't good. Lets just say chocolate and my waistline are mortal enemies, so I try to keep them apart :) but if you can drink it and get away with it I will try not to hate you too much..
ninety-two and a half
I am currently 92 and 1/2 pounds, and, as everyone knows, I looooooooooooooooooooooooove chocolate!!!
Ow! Ow! Stop throwing them sharp objects!
Heehee, just jokin' around. Anyway, don't envy me for my weight thing - it doesn't come naturally, and is actually, ummm, because of something, but my therapist n I are trying to figure that out. Besides, I'm just a little below my ideal target anyway...
But, y'know, there are lots of nice low-cal chocolate mixes out there. Â Maybe you should try em out?

I love
I love hot chocolate, there's nothing like a hot cup of cocoa on a cold winter day. Especially if it's Chocolate Mint Truffle.
Have delightfully devious day,
I quite agree. But coffee is really bad for the body. Here's why
Coffee causes bleeding stomach ulcers and raises the blood pressure. Did you know they even add salt to the coffee as the coffee beans are being ground? The only way to ensure that there is not salt in your coffee is to buy the beans and grind them yourself.
Tea on the other hand, is an herbal leaf that when used with hot water, has healing powers for the body, plus relaxes the body, too, as you sip it. Any doctor can tell you that. I love Chamomile tea. It is very relaxing.
AS FOR HOT CHOCOLATE, YUMMY, and it is very tasty, too, especially when you make it with skim milk.

Personally...
I like a hot chocolate from time to time, but (to throw the proverbial cat among the pigeons)...
Let's just say you can make a song and a dance about it...
(Oh, and yes, I have been drinking something a little different this evening - 13% ABV and red)
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
I happen to like Chocolate-Chai-Tea
It's made from Carib or has it in it and it uses milk and can be nicely brewed in the microwave if you use fat free milk. It's very nice, and soothing and full of wonderful spices many are good for you but a mug of this is like having aromatherapy too:)

Think I don't understand is how folks in Europe/Asia/Africa survived all those centuries while folks here in the Americas hid - and kept all the cocoa to themselves. :-)
