Of course you should consult a doctor. And random bozo's on the inter-webs should not be trusted. But that never stopped said bozo from giving unsolicited advice. I'd recommend bumping your potassium dosage. Bananas are a good way to do that if you can stomach them.

Bad knee - ?
I am in need of a new knee... TKR = Total Knee Replacement. I've been putting off while many of my friends have had or are awaiting help. Easily diagnosed by primary MD. Lie on back he pulls leg: is their "slop" or loose play at the knee? X-rays will confirm all things. My leg sometimes gives out on me; can't straighten/bend knee for 1 - 4 hours... before being able to gingerly & slowly limp around. Episode for me can last 30 hours. See a Dr. - also I have "OA" = Osteo (?) Arthritis -- you deserve a visit to a medical pro. - Keep a log so you can explain, where, when, how long...

has had 'episodes' pretty much ever since i broke it back in 1989. Its had several wobbles this last week after i bashed it last week, usually happens if i've done a bit of walking or been stood for a bit, there's no apparent reason or warning (knees are a bit unstable at the best of times!), thankfully i've not had a total collapse for a long time! It's something that i don't consider worthy of mention, with all my aches, pains and mechanical issues it really is low on the agenda.
If you've no history I would definitely get it checked out by a professional, it could be nothing or something, you'll never find out if you just bleat about it here.

I've had that.
Only in my case, it's my right knee. I was in a supermarket parking lot and would have fallen over if I hadn't had the shopping cart to hold on to. I saw my doctor who ordered x-rays, which revealed severe osteoarthritis in the right knee and less severe osteoarthritis in the left knee. Some day I will need a knee replacement, but I'm in no hurry for surgery.
In any case, please see your doctor. Whether it is something serious or relatively not so bad, you should know what is happening to you.

DAB2640 - We could swap knee diagnosis! I too had to use a shopping cart as a walker. You do not have to been a hard core athlete to have deteriorating knees; old age and OA can be the 'cause'. Having base line x-rays and medical exams will be beneficial for comparison in the future.
TKR, in my case, is recommended because we have a 2 story home. "If you don't have it done while younger you may reach a time when you will not be able to go upstairs & will be stuck living on the ground level AND your health could become a reason for NOT being a TKR candidate in the future.: -
An exam is warranted for peace of mind and to track what ever issues are found.
