A quick heads up.
BBC has a story on that is quite heartening. "The Pre-Colonial Genders We Don't Talk About". It is toward the bottom of the Internet page and shows that Cross Gender, Third Gender, or Two Spirit behavior has been with us for a very long time. It is a very interesting article and encourages me in the idea that there is hope.

My impression is that it is the typical BBC "modern objective" human interest news story. This one is a bit more overt about the post colonial guilt that seems common in BBC reporting on international issues.

Post Colonial Guilt
The British, Spanish, Dutch and many others were brutal invaders. I am only just finding out about my own Shawnee Tribe heritage. The Europeans attempted to wipe us out. None of us seemed to have been immune to the Death Marches.

Leaving a Native American museum, I stopped to fill in the visitor book. All the usual, name, address and such.
Then they asked "Tribal Affiliation" ... I had to put down:
European Invading Colonizer.
Sigh ...
