And its the finale of Summer Girl!
Before we get to that though, lets catch up on the news.
After the feedback at the weekend I've given up on project eyebrows, whatever shape / colour I use I just can't get used to seeing anything there so i'll stick to my ghostly blonde sweat catchers!
Monday then was marked out as a duff day in advance, the forecast was for damp which sort of hinted at doing indoor stuff - I did go out for some shopping but that pretty much wrapped things up! OTOH I did buy the mekin's for a halfway decent Lamb Rogan Josh, fresh lamb, a few 'special' additions to the sauce, served with Peshwari naan, onion bhaji and chicken samosa parcels - kept Bev quiet for a few minutes, pretty tasty if I do say so myself! Other homemade curries and autumnal dishes are being planned.
And so to yesterday, Tuesday. I had this urge to get some chips for dinner and so I set off for the 'local' seaside, Weston Super Mare having the requisite purveyor of deep fried potato product. The weather has definitely taken a turn for the cool, that said it was quite a pleasant ride down even if there was a good chunk of up included. I found my cheeps (not a patch on real northern chips, oh how I long for some decent GOC cheeps!), washed them down with a cup of tea and set off for the return leg.
I'd already done the 'into the wind' bit on the way out so it was fairly easy going using a laney route back to the metropolis, over the suspension bridge, past the zoo and looping back to base. 123km, 1000m of up, bit slower than Saturday but the shoulder continues to improve, its more ache than stabbing pain now, hopefully next week i'll be able to start stepping things up a bit.
Which brings us to today. As I write this I've already done the laundry and spent another hour or so painting in the back garden - a second coat after Sunday's efforts. I'll go for a walk this afternoon to get in my daily exercise as recommended by HMG before cosying down for the evening.
The man from DPD did bring me a packet this morning, a wheel truing stand, so I'm almost ready to set too on building the new wheels for Foxy which will hopefully then give me a second bike option. My current steed of necessity has done over 12000km (@7500 miles) since it returned to the road at the start of March, its on its second set of rubber and the driveline is ready for some attention. A second running bike will give me the chance to do the maintenance in a more leisurely manner.
The latest Covid restrictions in the UK mean that my planned trip to celebrate a significant (90th) birthday and visit friends family and bikes at the end of the month is unlikely to be doable. The new restriction system brought in this week doesn't affect the south west of the country but whilst visiting the north is allowed, any sort of contact with family/friends is made quite difficult unless you are wearing 2 vests, an overcoat and have an umbrella. Already my trip to the German Weihnachtsmarkt has been cancelled, whether I can go away at Christmas is very much up in the air, guess i'll just have to drink Gluhwein and eat Stollen on my own.
I can't delay longer, Britney Spears, the final chapter of Summer Girl is ready to read. My question to you lot is, do you want me to post The Visitors straight away or would you prefer a gap? I'll continue posting Avoidance anyway, stepping up to twice weekly from next week. Let me know what you think.
Well I reckon that's a wrap, ta ta for now,
