With the recent disclosure of Paris Hilton, I begin to suspect that lots of people have severe trauma in their lives, yet somehow manage to hide it and pull together a reasonable life. I'm no exception. The mistake I made was to marry a severely damaged partner and eventually our lives caved in. She was an Alcoholic and I changed male to female.
I really like super romantic stories, and my own tend to be that way. The Twilight Saga was lots of fun. I've watched 50 Shades of Grey several times. Some say it is Porn, but for me parts of it, I can really identify with. The Parental abuse for sure, and his getting hooked on BDSM. I once was but somehow in the last ten years that is gone.
I feel the need to talk to my counselor about it, but deep inside, it seems insane to do so.

Share that stuff with a therapist, unless they aren't a safe therapist
Sexuality is weird, took me forever to admit I'm bisexual. It was like dysphoric for me to admit I liked other girls. However, now I feel empowered. I like all genders, I'm bisexual, and I'm proud ♥

Sexuality is more confusing than gender. Part is innate. Part evolves over time. Part is learned. Part reflects our sexual associations (people). Attraction and expression are only loosely coupled. Then we mix in social expectation and repression with denial.... I’m sure you have seen most of this and lived some too. The rule is people are complex.
Yes, you need - even After this long - To talk in therapy about the abuse. It leaves scars for life. The therapy is to deal with any unhealed Wounds and abscesses Still present.
