Thanks
I received a bookface friend request from "you" but it was deleted before I could respond.
Social media
I constantly hear about people having having problems with site such as facebook and I am amazed that people still use these sites. The complaints I hear about range from getting computer virus's to abuse etc. I'm afraid I have no sympathy for face book users. there have been warnings about the use and dangers of these sites for years and people still use them.
Sadly it has become
Anti-social media. If you are that way inclined, it can rule your life.
People ask me for my Twitter Handle, Facebook or WhatsApp thingies
They give me strange looks when i say that I don't have any accounts on any ASM sites.
"But how are we going to keep in touch?" they ask...
"Err, by phone or email perhaps?"
"But we never call anyone," they reply despite having an $800 smartphone in their hand 24/7
I know that things like Facebook have their uses but to become addicted to them is just not right. IMHO, it is worse than hard drugs because FB etc is free provided you have an internet connection.

Sorry to hear this
I stopped using facebook years ago when it started to become a place where people seemed to get more out of degrading others than a place to share ideas and photos.
Now that I look back on it, I wish I had never signed up on it in the first place. The people that I want to know about my personal life, know. As for everyone else, it's none of their business and that Includes my place of employment

Someone Facebook hacked me too
I kept getting messages from facebook in an Arabic language. I would get a few a year. I deleted them as spam for a couple of years, but finally decided to track it down.
Someone had found one of my e-mail addresses, and they set up an account using it. I went to the phony facebook account and had a password reset sent to my e-mail address (the one they used to set up their account). I was able to reset the password and gain control of the account and delete it. After that, someone tried to reset the password for the deleted phony account, but since the reset request came to me and not them, they weren't able to access the account.
I wonder if the account was being used for criminal purposes since there was just a few bits of activity a year and I couldn't read what was on the account. Facebook could be used for some shady purposes using this simple technique.
Registered on FaceBook don't use it
I am fortunate FaceBook and all the sites I use are in my name. Seems as if there is one or two attempts each month to reset the password on Facebook, Gmail, and other sites. All which bounce when the request is sent to my domain registration.
Knew FaceBook leaked personal data like a sieve. Didn't put personal data on it when I signed in. Purpose was to lock in my name as I was seriously publishing then. I was lucky most people were still scared of the 600 lb gorilla guarding their doll franchise. Ahhh, such is life. Now I see thousands of mimics scattered across the web when my name is put in a search engine.
Careful people, there are real thieves and con artists out there working 24-7 to steal the clothes off your back.
