Sorry, but if your brother is causing you pain, cut him out of your life. That's what I had to do with my family. Yeah, life sucks.

Feels familiar
I'm not out... for practical reasons and because the likelihood of my ever transitioning are slim and none without major healthcare reforms and copious other stuff falling into place in my favor. I deal with it and work long hours, work and hobbies, to keep from having too much time to think about it. But there are times... and reading some of the moronic comments and memes posted on Facebook by friends and family who I *thought* were at least somewhat open minded... when I consider coming out just so I can give the conversation its full attention. Instead of having to cage my comments in the ambiguous knowledge of the sorta open minded, as opposed to the "ya... think you get it, let me give you an analogy that shows you just how badly you misjudged when you posted that comment." On the bright side, if I ever do come out... I have a pretty good idea which people I'm going to have to defriend to have any peace of mind...
And isn't that a sad perspective to have to take?
Guess he's never been to Japan?
While I was in the military I was given the opportunity to visit many countries. While I only had 3 weeks in Japan, I used that time to visit as much of the country as I could.
One thing that surprised me was the rest rooms in Japan, There were no Men and women separation, there was one rest room that everyone went into. And the small one stall stations that you would find along the city streets had no door, only three sides.
This was back in the late 70's so not sure if that has changed, but people there had a different attitude on nudity and biological functions.
We the willing, led by the unsure. Have been doing so much with so little for so long,
We are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
It is because:
Being a crowded society, that highly values honor and manners, privacy is given by curtsy and behavior, instead of needing walls, they simply politely do not look, unlike us westerners who usually gawk at everything rudely and worse.

While that has to hurt, hopefully that does not stem from any residual attitude on Trans. I think he is wrong, but I can see someone being OK with "Transgender Persons", yet still think unscrupulousness individual will take advantage of such rules. I think a handful may try, but will find out its is not as easy as they think.
