I had an interesting experiance last night. I went over to my cousin Terry's place, and I got to hold her granddaughter, who is not two yet.
And I had this wonderful feeling of peace come over me when I held her.
Tension I didn't even know I was carrying dropped off me.
Anybody else get this kind of reaction?

Yep,
My niece, whom I raise, has a new addition of 5 months. It is nice.
Different with Different Babies
One of my sons would go to sleep within seconds of being placed on my chest. If he was fussy and fighting his nap, would lie on the floor on my back. He would yell, "Don't put me on Dad. Don't put me on Dad." and would be out like a light seconds. He was like that until he was five. He's thirty-two now and we don't talk much at all.
I held my second grandchild for the first time last week. He was born on Wednesday. Extremely calming to hold a three day old baby.
The worst development of the last fifty years was moving the elderly out of the home. Families now lack in institutional wisdom and assisted living centers are lifeless.

i have similar thoughts
on the elderly. even when i had repressed everything, i was one of the only "guys" i knew that offered to care for kids, even babies, change diapers, etc. because of course it wasnt "manly" or it was "womens work".
