There's been a snag in Piper's plans to move this weekend. The deal has been hung up by a glitch in the space being ready to rent and she can't move in as planned. The move had been pretty much financed but the snag is going to cost a few days in a motel, and boarding for Penny, the Labrador, an unexpected expense. I can loan her the money but it would be a lot less stress on me if I know that we have met our contribution goals in the Hatbox for the month.
So, if you can, it will help us get through the month without gnawing the corners off any furniture. You can send your gift via Amazon Hatbox or through the P**P** link on Janglewood. Thanks.
Hugs to all,
Erin, Piper, Cat, Katie and !!Penny!!

Deep in the Heart of Taxes
In the process of gathering info for our tax filing I totaled my contributions to BC last year. I received great value for my dollar. Yet, I can't help wondering why you have any problems at all. BC is a fantastic service. By my estimates your site has north of 100,000 visitors a month. If even a small fraction of one percent supports your efforts your meager goals would be met.

Some notes on BC traffic
According to one set of tracking software, we had 455,800 visits in the month of January this year, representing 136,500 different visitors. Even though 40% of visitors only looked at one page, the average of the other visitors tracked about 7 pages and spent twelve minutes or so on the site. Another set of tracking software says we had 1.2 million visits and 600,000 visitors. The extra visits and visitors come from people who have never, ever signed in and get only the cached version of pages. And some of those are probably bots.
We have 5000+ members with accounts, though about half of those have not logged in in the last year and a few hundred are duplicate accounts used by the same persons. I delete five or ten accounts per day created by bots. A few months ago, I deleted 7000 accounts set up by bots over a period of two years but since then I have been trying to keep on top of it. Still, distinguishing bot traffic is difficult and half of all new accounts are probably still bots.
Hugs to all non-bots, :)
