Just thought that I would pass this bit along as a comfort to my Sisters here.

I was once told by someone who was quite sure of themselves that if the second finger was longer than the third, you were a boy. Well, in the last years, I have met women, some with as many as 5 children who have that anatomical feature. So, you can relax.

The long finger only shows that there was an elevated level of testosterone in the womb in the first trimester.

Merry Christmas

Finger Length

Actually, I believe it refers to the first (index) and third (ring) fingers. My index and ring fingers are the same length. So, what does that mean?

First and third, yep

I believe it's all to do with Testosterone in the womb, or some such nonsense.

On my left hand, my index finger is the same length as my ring finger; on my right, my ring finger is considerably longer than my index finger.

Go figure!

Hope your Christmas day is at least peaceful.

This is a possible indicator, not a fact. The only way to know if you are transsexual is to 'know'. There was also work that indicated that bankers bonuses correlated with the shortness of their second digit (and the likelihood of their getting prostrate cancer).

Body shape, size and ratios are nice if they are in your favour but to be honest I remember nuns at school who had more muscle than Charles Atlas and a better moustache than Groucho Marx.

The difference is not at all reliable...

..as it varies greatly between entire populations. One researcher put it: “There's more difference between a Pole and a Finn than a man and a woman.”

As predictors, both astrology and crystal balls are much more fun, and just about as ‘foolproof.’

Or you could be like me

The weird t-woman with a 5 inch wrist and almost 5'8" tall.Size 5 ring finger on my right hand. Then again when I was young (the 60s) I would have been considered a medium sized woman who would wear about a US size 10 to 12 in clothing but my size 9 feet would have been considered OMG. Now it is just about average.

In that case...

...my size 11W feet ought to be the norm in about a century or so....=)
