but its neither Pontoon or summer!
Since last i wrote we've had a Smorgasbord of weather hereabouts, bright and reasonably warm through to cold, wet and windy - that's just today! For a change the good days have fallen on my ride days so its been a fairly 'normal' week.
With a favourable forecast, i set out on Thursday for a decent ride, a loop eastwards before heading up to my regular stop at Chippenham. I wasn't overly enthused though so my return route was fairly direct which meant i only just scraped 100km for the day. Well i guess i had been put off a bit by a flat tyre after just 17km, front wheel this time but once again, a thorough investigation didn't reveal the culprit. Wet and hedge cutting, almost makes you want to buy an indoor trainer! almost but not quite, back in the mists of time i went that route, not saying never again but i'm not rushing to it.
Now back on Tuesday i got a message from ye olde NHS suggesting i should book for Covid and flu vaccines as i'm apparently at 'high risk', not quite sure why but i'll not argue, so i did just that, two munutes on the interweb et voila, an appointment Friday morning. And so i set off to get jabbed, arriving five minutes before my appointed time only to be told they'd cancelled everything for the day. Glad i hadn't needed to take time off work or had to arrange childcare or anything, anyhow i was told to present myself instead, lunchtime on Monday.
Once back i sat myself at the computer, determined to do some writing, two hours later i hadn't put even a single letter on the screen. This total writing block is really getting to me now, its like the connection from head to fingers is cut, the ideas percolate to the surface but turning them into words just isn't happening. So i must apologise to everyone, particularly my Patreon supporters, the lack of words is driving me as mad as a mad thing as much as you are disapointed. On the plus side, when i got back i made a crumble with fruit gifted by Lidl and the garden.
Saturday was a more mixed forecast, my plans had started with a bit of a Cotswold circuit but my thuse had too much un for that, i wanted to ride but not so far. In the end i settled on a bit of a womble around north Brizz, it fell a bit short of 45km at the finish but it had served its purpose, clearing my head and exercising the corpus.
And so to today with its wet, windy start and forecast of afternoon sunshine. First job was the laundry then it was a walk to the shops to fetch the components of todays dinner. For those that are interested, i'll be doing lamb steaks with roast veggies, Yorkshire puds and taters followed by plum and rhubarb crumble, not had even a pseudo roast for a few weeks now.
Being Sunday i've already posted the next Gaby chapter, Fame & Fortune, which i hope you all enjoy.
What lies ahead this week? Well Monday its the rescheduled vaccination which i'll fit into a slightly longer walk if it all goes to plan. The forecast is looking okay so it'll be a burger ride on Tuesday unless we decide on an assisted trip instead, that decision will be made later today, i've got everything planned, parking options, cafe, route so its just settling on the day, i'm leaning towards Thursday in case i have any reaction to the double jab on Monday.
That's all for today, i'll be back on Wednesday i hope, but for now,
Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid
