Maddy passed on Sunday dinner cooked by someone else!
Yep, its a rare thing but this evening i just didn't have any appetite so i passed on pie and mash, nothing wrong with the food, i just couldn't face eating, I'll probably get the munchies later of course.
So what have i been up to since Wednesday? Thursday i decided i'd like to go to a beach, specifically Weston super Mare, so i set off on the E with a vague idea of a route. As usual things changed on the road and at 11.30 i found myself at Clevedon having an early in terms of time and distance, lunch. It was quite bright but breezy as i made my way down the coast to Somerset's premier resort, i know its February but i had the beach almost to myself.
After a brief photo stop i rode the 2km to Uphill, along the sands, before turning inland to follow the northern fringe of the Mendip eastwards. I was doing okay for power so somewhere along the way the plan got changed to climbing onto the Mendip and riding along the top, full of good ideas me. Of course this added some distance and as the comp ticked closer to 100km i realised that i'd soon be running on fumes, the bike may be E but it still needs my input to actually move it along!
Yep, that early stop was coming back to haunt me now, i ticked off the climbs, none too bad thankfully, the km climbed more quickly and soon i was on the bike trail with maybe 30 minutes to go. I got back, still pre-bonk but another couple of kilometres would have pushed me over, 100 kilometres since eating, 134km covered and over 1000m of climbing. I should know better, i do know better but sometimes all the knowledge in the world doesn't count for a thing.
Friday i caught up with more writing stuff then yesterday, with a forecast of fog and damp, i decided not to ride but to go for a walk instead. 10km was a fair trot, checking out a couple of big box stores then grabbing a bit of shopping on the way back.
Today was forecast windy but dry so i decided to do a shorter ride, exploring some new roads along the way. It was only 67km but i did stop for a cuppa on the way back in! 17km of new roads in there, some potential new routes to incorporate into my regular rides, some just dead ends.
Thats that then. I've put Despedida Tenerife, chapter 23 of On the Edge, hope you enjoy it.
I'll be back midweek but for now,
Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid
