Yep, can't keep the weather out of things!
Its a funny week, the weather is warmer but the latest storm has brought strong winds and wet although in these parts we've missed the worst of it. Monday was a funny day, i had intended doing some writing but instead found myself trying to fix the 'broken' gear shifter on the Ebike. I thought i'd done it, refitted everything, but it still failed to work properly, Plan B then, a quick removal of the worst grime and tyre inflation for Foxy - after 5 weeks away it looks like i'm back on a 'road' bike.
I checked my finances, tight as usual but i found a replacement shifter with about 40% off, as long as i'm sensible i can afford it so i hit the buy button. Expected delivery, Thursday, guess what i'm doing Friday! Or not, having escaped most of the wet on Monday, Tuesday was gonna be damp with a capital D so the Tuesday ride was cancelled, well postponed until Wednesday.
What to do on Tuesday then, well i finally got started on my next 'cycling' book, it's only taken me from September to get started but i made good progress sorting most of the content, now i just need to fill in the rest. If anyone is interested, its a collection of ride 'diaries' in my pursuit, starting January last year, of doing a century of 100km+ rides. It's a work in progress, i'm still 9 rides short but, weather permitting, i'll be done by my Birthday next month.
Which brings us to today. I'd barely finished breakfast when the new gear control was delivered so that's the first, well second job after the laundry, tomorrow organised. Then i set off, in a very wobbly manner, for my ride on Foxy, wobbly because the riding position between Foxy and the E are so far apart, literally at opposite ends of the spectrum. So it was a steady ride out to Clevedon for my weekly burger lunch, a very basic cheeseburger today. That wind was in my face so the hope was to get some assistance on the 70km return leg,
The sun was out, warming things to @ 6c and i was more confident of the bike as i set off pretty much due east, for Bath and the Avon. With just one prolonged climb and some quite decent roads the lack of E didn't impact very much, a 10kg Foxy is easier to push along than a 20kg E when you are topping 30kph (the E cuts off at 25kph). The temperature started to fall as i headed back towards Brizzle to complete ride 91 of the new book, all 106km of it.
So there we are, tomorrow, Thursday i'll be fixing the E, Friday will be a ride along with Sunday, Saturday should be a good writing session. Of course i'll be posting more Gaby on Sunday after my ride wherever that takes me.
For now then,
Tschussie
