With apologies to John Lennon

Printer-friendly version

I recently came out to my wife, and this reworking of John Lennon's "Woman" says just how it went. Amazingly, it takes very little reworking!

Woman

Woman
I can hardly express
My elation for your thoughtfulness
After all, I'm forever in your debt

And woman
I will try to express
My inner feelings and thankfulness
For giving me the freedom of a dress

Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo

Woman
I’m glad you understand
The little girl inside the man
Please remember, my life is in your hands

And woman
Hold me close to your heart
However I dress, it won't keep us apart
After all, it is written in the stars

Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo

Woman
Please let me explain
I'm glad I didn't cause you sorrow or pain
So let me tell you again and again and again

I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever

It's not as easy as it looks

to not only capture the meter and flow of thesong, but to put your very personal story INTO the song worked so well. Thank you!

Thank you,

this one was fun to do, the last one I did took some time. I have another I did that Erin asked me not to post as it was too political, and that one was very difficult, it took months to get right.

Good Luck

I'm really glad that your wife was so accepting, and this is a lovely way to tell her.
Not to be a downer, but now the hard work starts.
Trust me though, I have walked that path and we are still together, so keep working at it.
This is a really sweet gesture.

"Lately it occurs to me..
what a long strange trip its been."

I appreciate that,

I will continue to work on it and take care of her, she is special.

Thank you,

so far so good!

Oh wow!

I'm so happy for you, Holly. That's such wonderful news! :)

Thank you,

I'm a very lucky girl!

Nice one!

Reworking songs is harder than it looks and you have nailed this one.

Thank you!

This one actually came easy to me, not like the last one I posted, that one took some time to get right.

Another case of me not knowing the original

but you've reworked it very well. I hope your wife has read your version and loves it. Good luck with your future together.
