"Suzy, I can't decide," Bobby whispered.
"Bobby, you don't need to whisper, no one is around. And even if they were, it is 2023 and, at least here in Calfornia, no one cares if you buy a blouse."
"OK Suze, which one, the light blue silky one or the white with roses and lace? I can't afford both of the.... eep!"
"Can I help you?" asked the young sales lady who had come up behind us both. "I think I can solve your dilemma, if you will answer me one question. Are those for you, or for someone else?"
"Um, well, you see, I think I will...."
"That answers that question, they are for you, and I'm willing to use my employee discount for you if that will help. I think they would both look wonderful on you, does a third off make them affordable?"
"Why, I mean, what are you talkin..."
"Silly, I have a cousin who is just like you, only she never got the chance to be herself. She lived in Tennessee and it didn't turn out very well. I'm Angie, by the way."
"Angie, I'm Bobb... Barbara and this is my bestie, Suzy. I appreciate the offer, and I will take both."

Kinda short
I remember when I was shopping, lady at the used clothing store belt it necessary to tell me I was shopping in the woman's clothing. Very embarrassing.
I asked if there was some place to try on
I was at a used clothing store and found a pair of women's jeans that I thought might fit. I took them to the counter and asked if there was someplace I could try on. The girl at the counter said, "Those are women's jeans." I said, "I know." She asked, "You know?"
I said, "Yes, I'd like to try them on." This was the only time I was refused. She said, "You can try them on at home and bring them back if the don't fit." According to my policy, I chose to leave the jeans on the counter and take my business elsewhere.

And such a clever sales assistant ! A few well thought out words and she gets a decent sale, even with the staff discount. Get it wrong and Bobby runs away never to return. Get it right and Bobby will be a regular customer !

The staff are paid to sell things, not give dissertations about their personal opinions on appropriate fashion. The world might actually be a better place if people would just do their effing jobs!
