One Hundred Words

She glared at me like I'd grown a second head... or neglected to clean my plate at supper. Then she let out one of her way over the top dramatic sighs. Finally, she scoffed, "You want me to write a piece that will tell a transgender story in only one hundred words?"

"Exactly one hundred," I softly corrected her, carefully plastering my face with an apologetic grin -- no sense in poking the bear, now, is there?

"Leonard --"

"Lydia, grandma," I murmured.

"Lydia, then... that's a tight order. Just what kind of transgender content exactly are we talking about including here?"
