One Hundred Words
by Edeyn Hannah Blackeney

She glared at me like I'd grown a second head... or neglected to clean my plate at supper. Then she let out one of her way over the top dramatic sighs. Finally, she scoffed, "You want me to write a piece that will tell a transgender story in only one hundred words?"

"Exactly one hundred," I softly corrected her, carefully plastering my face with an apologetic grin -- no sense in poking the bear, now, is there?

"Leonard --"

"Lydia, grandma," I murmured.

"Lydia, then... that's a tight order. Just what kind of transgender content exactly are we talking about including here?"

Constrained writing

I have a special admiration for those that can write within a very tight set of constraints, such as exactly 100 words, or fixed word lengths, such as Mike Keith's π inspired retelling of Poe's "The Raven".

It must have taken a while to prune / extend the story as need be to fit the constraint - well done :)
