Whispers of Pain

Printer-friendly version

Whispers of a recent past echo in my head
Thoughts of loved ones race through and rattle endlessly
But when I see your eyes in my mind
It’s the only time I smile

The sounds of your giggle
Or the way your head would tilt
The look of wonder on your face
When your paradigm would shift
My eyes are red and teary
Memories are all that I have left
Things like that must sustain me
Of that there is no choice
Feel the pain racing through with each and every breath
I cannot tell you how much you will be missed
If only you could stay my broken heart would mend
Alas that is impossible so I say goodbye instead

This is dedicated to the twins my spouse and I fostered since birth who have just been sent to stay with their uncle after 7 months. I love you kiddos!

I cant imagine your pain

I admire your willingness to take them in, and ache for the hurt you feel.

May you be blessed with another opportunity

Thank you all

Thanks to all of you for your kind words of encouragement and support. I won't lie, this part of being a foster parent is the most difficult thing we've ever done, short of a passing of a loved one. Even then, though, we don't have to wonder if they're getting everything they need or if they're ok.

I wish that this didn't hurt so much, but then I would have been guilty of doing something as a foster parent that I swore never to do and that's not care. Which would be worse? To feel the hurt or never feel anything at all? To me, even at this trying time it would be the latter, but I certainly wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Big hugs to all of you,
Marlisa

No one else can tell you best how to be yourself

Thank you Marlisa for this in depth look in to your heart and

soul. You and your spouse are decent and honorable human beings to have cared for these children as long as you have. I, too, hope that their uncle treats them with kindness and love. Thank you for sharing this.
