Whispers of a recent past echo in my head
Thoughts of loved ones race through and rattle endlessly
But when I see your eyes in my mind
It’s the only time I smile

The sounds of your giggle
Or the way your head would tilt
The look of wonder on your face
When your paradigm would shift
My eyes are red and teary
Memories are all that I have left
Things like that must sustain me
Of that there is no choice
Feel the pain racing through with each and every breath
I cannot tell you how much you will be missed
If only you could stay my broken heart would mend
Alas that is impossible so I say goodbye instead

This is dedicated to the twins my spouse and I fostered since birth who have just been sent to stay with their uncle after 7 months. I love you kiddos!
