Sometimes, a Cliché is just a Cliché...
by Audry Baxter
Terri looked in the mirror and saw so much wrong.
This is not going to work. Why did I decide to do this?
The ride to the picnic was devoid of conversation, as was parking. And walking from the lot to the pavilion where the grills were set up for all the fathers and daughters.
They stood there and a young girl came scampering up.
As Megan ran off to play, Terri turned to the organizer, "Sorry to invade your 'boys only' club here, Steven, but I'm her only parent, and I am as much her father as her mother."

OH!!!
Audrey,
What a wonderful beginning to an extended story this would make! I can think of several plots that would be fun!
It is enjoyable just as it is, though!

Would be a Mommy for their princess?

What?
I think you misinterpreted a few things. (And Daddy's should be Daddies) -- Terri is a single mother. She took her daughter Megan to the Father-Daughter Picnic, what does that have to do at all with what you said?

Umm, my take ...
... on Stanman's response is that it was a comparitive reference.
There ~are~ single fathers - albeit much more rare. And the comparison falls down a bit, because the analogous situation would be a Mother-Son date.
Plus, the consequences of Daddy doing the mommy-thing for their child of either sex are likely to be far more stressful than those for Mommy showing up in DRAB. Most likely, unless she wore a mustache or beard, or a men's suit (not likely at a picnic) hardly anyone would even notice.
If the question were rephrased to "How many Daddy's would be ~interested~ in trying the `Mommy' role for some special occasion," I suspect the numbers would be significantly higher - and higher still if they could be guaranteed "no negative consequences".
Be well.
Nice to see
A new drabble for the Theatre. Very cute, and it could be read a couple of different ways, either TG or completely innocent of any TG content. I'm leaning towards the second option, myself, but personal interpretation is what makes this a better piece.
