I'm still working on my epic alien story, which I've been trying to do a final editing pass through lately, but I keep being distracted by other stories. There's another one that's ready to post now, but I'm going to give you all time to read all the epic Christmas contest entries before posting it.

Besides that, there's Dog Days and a couple other short stories that are near being ready to post. The problem is all the other stories distracting me.

I have three more old but unpublished chapters for Normal in various states of completion featuring two new characters (or six or seven, depending on how you count), and some ideas for more chapters, and I am probably going to be looking at them next because I had an idea this morning for how to resolve a problem with the third chapter. A few weeks ago I wrote out the Normal Canon to help me ensure I don't contradict the previous stories so that I can pick up this old serial again.

And there's also my first epic, which is still a long way from being postable but at least there's some progress. 29k out of 200k+ words have made it through from the rambling original into the posting version.

And then there was another idea I had a month ago which started as a silly pun and has ballooned into 28k words of a romantic fantasy of all things, Djinn help me! This is rather a different style of story for me and it will probably be a good while before you see this, especially with all the other stories going on.

I'm trying to commit to posting either a single story a month or weekly serial updates in longer ones, which the contests have helped me do the last three months plus one to make up for not posting in September.

"You gots 99 problems" ...

... And =having= 99 problems is one of the problems.

If not "99", then whatever number of problems you have.
---
Stop.

Deep breath.

Have some tea & cookies. Or milk and biscuits. Or whatever works for you.

"All your Stuff" going on ... you have put yourself into overload.

You've done Step One:

You've written down "all your stuff". Add to the list as more comes up. It will.

And "The Normal Canon" counts a list.

Once you have things written down, the paper will remember them for you. "Your Stuff" can then stop swirling in your head like a forever-shaken snow globe ...

Then, once the 'tea & cookies' have settled, and some deep breaths have dropped your blood pressure a point or two ...

Out of all your of your Stuff, pick the easiest or quickest item to "knock off", to finish. (I suggest quickest.) The paper list will remember all the other Stuff.

"Now, you gots 98 problems."

And repeat.

--
Some mornings, two of my '99' problems are "I gotta pee" and "Coffee. Now!" And, while "Mr. (Jeeves) Coffee" does his thing, I can fill or empty the dishwasher. Or put away that clean laundry in the basket cluttering my living room.

So three problems down, before that "Oh Sweet Black Elixir of Consciousness" can reach my brain.

Hope this works/helps.

Why yes, we are story-hungry ...

But, for me, I'm not so hungry that I want to push you into writing bad stories, or rushed stories, or stories with goofs where we all go "Huh?", and then you get to fix...
