Slowly but surely.

So i have one night in Brizzle before going to Germany so i thought i'd catch you guys up with things.

Well we've now reached a point where we think my Fathers affairs are all in order and are now waiting for the wheels of offialdom to grind away before we can go any further. We've made a start on sorting out the physical goods, on the face of it there isn't a lot but it'll take time to dispose of as there are still some bits of my Mothers lurking about too. We have disposed of all the medication and the first consignment of stuff to charity but there is a lot more to go through. Of course it all takes time so on my return from Germany i'll be going back to GOC for @ a week to hopefully complete the official stuff and crack on clearing stuff out, it might sound a bit callous but its stuff like clothing that is of no use to family members that we are talking about. And of course my brother needs to go back to work too so that week i really do need to get on with stuff.

Father wasn't religous and insisted that he didn't want the fuss of a service so we've arranged for a private cremation and we'll scatter his ashes with my mother, out on the moors later in the year. The main cause of his demise was the cancer which raced through him in the last few weeks so rather than flowers we have suggested donations to Cancer Research UK, the main cancer charity in the UK.

Yesterday, the close family, me, my brother and my daughter had a day out doing a drive around GOC that was straight out my Fathers play book, out into the North York Moors, a favourite destination for both my parents, with stops at Rosedale Abbey and Wheeldale Moor before returning through Pickering. It was a difficult day at times as we relived memories and remembered both of my parents.

Today i've returned south with my brother, with another typical afternoon of Dad exploration across the Cotswolds and north Somerset ahead of tomorrows departure. We set off early doors for the airport and should be in Berlin by about 16.00 CET returning in ten days. Not sure if i'll get any internet time to post but i expect to start posting the next Gaby book free to BC on my return.

Well that's about it, thanks again for the messages of support and assistance i've received this last few weeks.
Bye for now,
Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid

I guess you've been through it before, but I wish you good luck in sorting out your Dad's affairs. I was still dealing with annoying details over two years after my wife died, mainly caused by demands for 'Certified' Death Certificates, by jobsworths in government and companies, who were never satisfied with what I had already sent.

The other irritants were the refusals of charities to which she had donated, to acknowledge that she had died and wouldn't be sending them any more money, no matter how many times I told them.

I hope you and your family can keep the stress, which you're experiencing, to a minimum.
